I thought to review all my star bases in my current game...115 of them. Just to make sure there were no upgrades that needed to be applied due some of the current bugginess in utilizing stationed points.
As I was doing this, I started noticing that ALL the default constructors selected for the bases had changed back to the Basic Constructor M1 model. Crap! So what could have caused this? There is regrettably no feature to update all existing star bases to a new default model that I know of. You can only update the default for all newly created star bases by selecting that option.
So I did some testing. One thing I had done was create a constructor specially designed to be used in the auto upgrades called Construct Auto. The thought being that since you cannot upgrade all existing star bases to a new design when you improve constructor designs, I would just keep upgrading the same design, overwriting the design as I made improvements to speed or whatever. In this manner I had hoped to avoid manually upgrading my default constructor on all my existing bases when I designed a new one.
But no .... if you use an existing design that is in use as a star base default constructor, modify that design and save it under the original name, all the star bases go back to calling out the original Basic Constructor. I get it. Even though it has the same name it is internally a new unique design. Sigh ...I just tried to use it because we have no way to upgrade all existing star bases to a new design. Unless I am missing something here?
It was a great vision and laudable effort to bring in a feature that would mitigate the micro management of star bases. I have really been trying hard to work with it. But that said, and as evidenced by a number of problem posts on this subject here, it is basically an un-useable feature at this point.
