What do you think about different movement speed on different terrain?

Maybe this will be a nice gameplay improvement for example providing a trap for the opponent by forcing him into a low speed area ;)

What do you think about that gameplay possibilities?

Sounds like a decent idea. It would also visually break up the terrain if you had marshes, swamps, geysers, etc. which could be used to slow down travel. Then you'd have to think about things like the slower but shorter route vs faster and longer. Units already move pretty slow so could be very frustrating for some :).

hm, from a lore perspective this coul be hard to argue since every single unit is hovering or flying.  Most of the units are quite slow already, further debuffs on that would make armies a fest for bombers! :D

Personally I'd like to have more traits for positioning, like high ground sight and range advantage or something similar.

Maybe the movement of the units on some terrain is faster and in a storm regions it is slower. Maybe a region has strong em interferenz and your radar does not work. Maybe we have great -graphics there. Things like this.

They can write the lore as they see fit  ;) (and they will have to for Navy) As the units can't actually fly you could argue that they are in fact pushing off the ground rather than just floating as they like. That is why I suggested marsh, swamps, and geysers as they could be visually interesting and the ground is not very solid, certainly intermittently so, which would slow down units.

Those two things already exist, though I agree this could be better highlighted in the game to make the benefits more obvious to the player.

Weather effects could be cool for that sort of thing for sure.

An unsolid ground area could have other traits like engineers not being able to build on it.

But periodic things aren'ta very good idea imho. There is a reason such things aren't established in the RTS pro game scene (see eg. SC2).

I must admit neither did I know  nor did I recognice having any benefits from having high ground... lol

+1 for the weather effects! ^^

In my opinion such things should not be random in order to use them. There could be a weather orbital in order to set or remove weather conditions. Maybe you could slowdown an nearing opponent you had scouted. Or you are able to remove an effect in an area with the orbital.

Agreed, definitely not random. Randomness can ruin the game for you.

I thought more of static weather effects like storms which block certain areas for aircrafts?

I love all those ideas, that's Awesome!

the sad part and what I heard from Brad is that the game cannot Handle it yet, or sorry what I am trying to say is that Today's Hardware cannot run the game with all those Effects in the game, that's why the game does not have them yet!

In the Future Maybe but not now, like I said before, the game need way more heights, having in the same map desert, snow, Terran, different weathers, rivers etc...
Nitrous Engine can do it but it will be too heavy for today's PC's.
