It looks beautiful. I can see the extractors built and unbuilt. Are the numbered rectangle units ? The 01 indicating 1 unit ? The dots to the side  an indicator of health ?

It's the same map on the minimap but the situation looks different how is it possible?

I thought I was odd thinking it was beautiful, glad I'm not the only one :)

I think the rectangles with 01 in are the armies or Ctrl groups, with the number being the control group number. Potentially it could be the number of Dreadnoughts in the force I guess. It looks place holder at the moment to me as the army size indicators (green dots within the red rectangle I'd speculate) are all the same.

Looks really nice though, clean and informative design.

It's a mockup.

Loving it! I hope you can make this Mockup real.

The team color taking all the regions that you own is great.

It will be nice to see that region flashing when you get attacked so we can now fast where is the enemy located.

A long time ago a did a very bad Mockup

old Mockup

lol that's old

well those 2 looks so much alike! :) lol kidding.

Let me say again that I love that Mockup, it just need some interaction and I think it will be perfect.

Interactions:

  • Pinging
  • Tell you teammate witch way to take by drawing direction arrows.
  • when an enemy is in your region then the region will start flashing.
  • when a mic is not available then let your teammate tell you by throwing some flashing icons in the map (defensive icons, attacking icons, concentration icons).
  • In the Strategic Map when your army meet an enemy army while your busy doing other things them you will see some kind splash colors on that location.
  • Meta Unit info icon ( size specs, health specs ) the squares that you have are nice but give them 50% less opacity maybe?

I was working on a nice mockup but it got really hard for me to make it without spending many hours into it, sorry for now i just don't have the time, but it does look a lot like yours Frogboy but of course not that nice as yours, You do know what your customers want and that is enough, Good job.

Cool. I thought you were aiming for 12, but 14 will do ;)

I have to say that looks like one of the old school maps from the games early days when the maps had too many nodes to be fun to manage or feel valuable. With a few odd starting positions in there I guess it is map designed for less players being used to test things out. Stripping away 40% of the nodes would make it a lot better, perhaps.

Either this is old, or black and white faction colours are back...really really hope they are back!

(sorry if over analysing :) )

One question, will there be differences to how many players will be allowed in MP and how many when in SP skirmish? Like only 8 humans in MP (because of potential network issues) and if you want to go above that they have to be AI. Though I have no idea how AI is handled (host do it all?) and if humans or AI take up more bandwidth.

Right now the plan is to keep it 6 player for now for MP while we privately increase it and test it.  Right now, we are not satisfied with the stability of Multiplayer as is and are still trying to investigate the issue.  The current consensus is that Steamworks isn't used to the amount of data we flood their pipe with so we either have to work around that or we have to decrease the amount of data we're sending.

Boo to Steamworks if it can't handle the data flow you want to bring us.  We want data flow!

Thanks for your reply and I certainly hope you guys can find an effective long term solution to this. Hopefully B2B support with Steam is better than its infamous consumer support, or lack there of ;)

On release of the expansion, even if you can only have a maximum of 6 human players, if/when feasible please consider allowing the addition of some AI on top of those 6 players. A number of people like playing 4v4 in other RTS games, with 4 friends vs 4 AI. I may well be wrong but I'm thinking that something like that may be able to be implemented earlier than allowing greater than 6 human players into the mix.

In the second screenshot, for you to run such a big map you had to lower the quality of the game map or specs?

I'd still be inclined to blame Stardock/Oxide in that we need to reduce the amount of data we're sending.  You guys will almost certainly get a build that can play 16 player.

The Founders private beta should start mid August.
