Compatibility issue with an app?

Compatibility issue with an app?

Please let us know

If you have compatibility issues with WindowBlinds and an application or game, please do let us know in this thread so we can investigate it and hopefully resolve the problem.

Please make sure you are running the latest version of WindowBlinds first and that the problem exists with a theme included with WindowBlinds vs a downloaded one.

Please provide as much detail as you can, screenshots of the problem, information on the application itself, how to reproduce the problem and if possible dmp files from any crashes.

The information on the about WindowBlinds page and information on your setup would be helpful too.

Hi.

I'm having issues with Windows Blinds on Adobe Reader.  I've tried most of the out of the box styles, restarting the PC, reinstalling WB but it always has issues.
I would be happy if I could exclude it I can't even do that.

Anything I can do about it?

If you disable the sandboxing in Adobe settings does the problem go away?

Hello,

Over the last 6 months I've noticed Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has lost the minimize/maximize/close buttons.

[Windows 10]

I have to right-click to get those options. It seems the buttons disappear when the document gets skinned. I tried excluding skinning for the reader app but that goes unacknowledged.

A minor issue, bugs the most when my monitors hibernate; then I have to search for a tiny resized window in monitor 1 and fish it out with a combination of window keys. (Winstep has been handy in accessing the window functions too.)

They'll have to pry my windowblinds from my cold dead hands! :jafo:

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But I don't see the issue on my system. Here what I get on my system.

Need to know more information.

1) Windows 10 version, please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.

2) Adove Acrobar version.

3) A screenshot of your issue would help us understand it better.

4) On the hibernate issue, need more clear explanation as what you are seeing or a video or screenshot of it.

Thanks

1. Win 10 Pro Last update 8/22: version 2004, Build 19041.508

2. Adobe Acrobat Reader (AcroRd32.exe) version 20.012.20048 6826(I tried reinstalling)

3. Video on screencast. https://www.screencast.com/t/6sqbNOt1rokd

4. When hibernating, if I don't run Deskscapes for example, all windows in monitor 2 shift to monitor 1.

The resizing of the acrobat window doesn't always happen, but it will move.

So I just learnt that this app is based on (is a discontinued fork of basically) SumatraPDF (https://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/free-pdf-reader.html). Same issues remain however even though this main build is still frequently updated. Thanks.

Actually, this might just be an issue with the theme I'm using. I can't remember if WindowBlinds covers elements on the title bar (tabs, three line menu buttons etc.) in general or if this is a distinct problem depending on which theme is used.

Issue with: DisplayFusion

When a WindowsBlinds skin is applied and DisplayFusion is running, the minimize, maximize, and close buttons all just act like the maximize button. I can't close a program. If it helps, i am using desktop splitting in DisplayFusion.

Does it do that with all Windowblinds skins, or just one xcloudx01? I am also using DisplayFusion with 2 monitors and have no issues at all here with Windowblinds skins.

It's with all skins. I've found the cause however, it only happens when you are using DisplayFusions monitor splitting. Once i turned that off, the buttons returned to working normally.

OK, well hopefully someone at Stardock can help you, I am using the exact same setup in DisplayFusion but have no issues.

The game "Puzzle Quest" loaded from steam. Other games don't make any problems.

When the mouse cursors enters the window of the game (not running full screen) it get stuck to the left border of that game window.

StartIsBack++ 2.9.8

When WindowBlinds Skin is applied (I use Diamond), The Start Menu and Taskbar are very glitchy, possibly caused by StartIsBack. Any way to disable Taskbar Skinning? I don't want to buy Start10 as I already own StartIsBack.

My mouse cursor keeps getting moved back to the title bar when I try to move it over the game window when the app is skinned so I can confirm this is a problem.

I can't test this sorry as I use Start10. It gets skinned along with Windowblinds which is why it's my preferred choice of alternative Start Menus. Well actually, I like to use both it and the Windows 10 menu side by side but that's just me.:andrew:

Hi!  I've been having issues with PuTTY.  WindowBlinds renders the theme correctly until PuTTY tries to display the scrollbar, which ends up turning into a weird white rectangle that hangs off the right side of the window, over the theme.  The up and down buttons are missing entirely and the rectangle that should let you scroll up and down is crushed into a single pixel tall line.  You can still scroll if you click around where the line is but the line itself doesn't seem to be the hotspot anymore.  Using the tweak settings for scrollbars (or setting it to skin the title only) doesn't seem to help with the only way to really fix it being disabling skinning for the app entirely.  I'd really not like to do that as a black window with a single pixel border (10's horrible default) makes using it with overlapping windows a nightmare.

I've tried a couple different versions of PuTTY including the latest but they all seem to have the same behavior.  It's worth noting that PuTTY does not display a scrollbar until there's enough text in the terminal window to warrant it.  The theme looks correct right up until the point the scrollbar is rendered.

I forgot to add:  the Cygwin/64 terminal window has the same behavior as PuTTY in regards to the scollbar.  I've attached a screenshot:

Hi! I just noticed that my exclusion of Adobe Acrobat Reader (AcroRd32, AcroRd32Info exes) from skinning is working! Maximize, minimize, close buttons visible.

Thanks much!

Hi, SUMo does not appear to be compatible with WindowBlinds 10.87? When SUMo starts up, it freezes when looking for C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. I have reported this to the developer of SUMo - see my post at

https://www.kcsoftwares.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3988.

If I close the Flash popup window, then SUMo continues to start normally.

Of the skins built in to WindowBlinds, I have found four cause SUMo to freeze - Acrylic 7, diamond, ice and precision. The rest of the skins do not cause any freezing.

I installed a skin called BetterAero7X which froze SUMo. I have contacted the developer of that skin and he/she states SUMo does not freeze on his/her PC. See my post at

https://www.deviantart.com/fytuf/art/Better-Aero7X-875022700

If I create that folder - C:\Windows\System 32\Macromed\Flash - then SUMo works with all the built in skins and BetterAero7X. Likewise, if I tell WindowBlinds not to skin SUMo, then SUMo starts up normally.

Hi, I am having issues with Firefox. When you are not fullscreen the titlebar draws correctly but when you go fullscreen and then exit fullscreen the titlebar no longer gets rendered and it is a glitchy mess that won't get fixed unless you open a new window and close the glitchy one or restart Firefox. This is the same behavior with my preferred browser Waterfox Classic.

Hi guys; Happy Christmas etc. and all that jazz. :snowman:  Ah, I see you're closed now so Happy New Year then!

Assuming this thread is still active, I've found another one. Macrium Reflect loads fine but I've noticed that some buttons have text missing with my skin and there may be some issues with text layout or visibility but it's hard to tell when you can't see it!

Another thing to mention is that the list of excluded apps in the WB settings doesn't scroll so eventually (hopefully improving compatibility will reduce the need for it) entries will go off screen. Not a problem I'm having just yet as I can still maximise the window for more room but just thought I'd mention it as a potential problem for some somewhere down the line depending on how many troublesome apps they need to add.

OK, stay safe everyone and best wishes at this festive time.
