New to the game. Read through the wiki, some things still unclear. help.

Hey, whats up guys.

On Friday I picked up the steam GalCiv 3 gold bundle. My play time so far is about 13h.

I think I have a grasp of the basics by now, even though most of the time I still don't know what the hell am I doing. But that's the part of the fun, so, please don't spoil the best tactics/strategy or whatever.

So to my question's:

1) Construction cost

When building a structure the production cost is, for instance, construction cost -50.

What does that mean?
Where can I see my total construction points?

2) Deep core mine

"Provides raw materials for planetary improvement construction"

Does it mine anything?

3) Hull technology

I can either choose +x% hit points(obvious), -x% construction cost (It doesn't cost as much elerium etc?) or +x% hull capacity(?)

4) Weapon technology

I can choose one of the following, +x% range (obvious), -x% construction cost (same as above?)  or -x% Mass(?)

5) Does more population equal faster building/production of structures/ships?

6) Does more population enhance the speed of aid research/aid economy orders?

Thanks

The construction cost is the number of social production (for planetary improvements) or ship production points it takes to build whatever it is you're building.  If you look at a planet window you'll see a number for Social Construction and one for Ship Construction (if you have a shipyard).  Those are the production points that are consumed, turn by turn, to build your improvement/ship.  So I think that answers #1.

#2 Deep core mine simply increases your Social Construction points, it doesn't mine anything.

#3 Choosing construction cost means you can build it faster.  Same with #4.  I generally choose increased capacity & smaller components to pack more on a ship.

#5 Yes, but in Crusade the raw production increases as the square root of the population, so it's a diminishing return.  Raw production feeds into both social/ship manufacturing, research, and income, so the answer to #6 is the same as #5.

Thanks for the explanation!

Right, so, if I understand this correctly..+% hull capacity = bigger ships, -% weapon mass = more weapons fit on a ship.

Does this mean it's pointless to go +% hull capacity (other than bigger ships) if I don't go for -% weapon mass as well?

Confusing mass with weight.

End of BenjaminLight's quote

Correct.

Hey, I've got one more question.

Where can I see all available ship designs?

When I go to my shipyard, it often says that a new design is available. For example: next to Missile ships category there is a yellow text saying X new is available.

I presume this is because I researched a new ship technology so there are more variances of the same ship differently equipped. But I just can't find a button that would allow me to go through available designs.

Thanks
