T-Man's Religous Debate for Doreen

My God is right and your god is wrong. Unless of course your god is the same as my God. But in either case, I am right.

Religion is from the times in which people were not able to explain the world arround them. People have used religion as guidance. Political leaders have used religion to their advantage and to justify their wars. The latter made me hate religion.

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction." - Blaise Pascal

It is all fine by me if people feel the need to have a religion, but I don't want to be confronted with people that are trying to spread "the word". I find it offensive and irritating that they treat people that do not have a religion as "if only they knew".

I don't need a guidance from any religion. I just want to keep on living and make the best of my life. A good friendship is worth more than any religion in the world.

Blaise Pascal had humor, though:

"If you believe in God and turn out to be incorrect, you have lost nothing - but if you don't believe in God and turn out to be incorrect, you will go to hell. Therefore it is foolish to be an atheist."

But don't get me wrong. T-man started this thread with other intentions and I don't want to be off topic. But because this thread also showed other people without a religion I felt it was safe to write the above.

AMEN! Quickest way to set me off and offend me is to try and 'save' me. Though I understand from many of my intense christian friends that this is a part of their 'path' if you will, to try and save those that have not 'accepted' jesus just yet. I believe that there should be a respect for those who are not for or are against organized religion or whatever. I keep my opinions of the bible to myself, I don't shove them down anyones throat thus in return I would hope no one would shove religion down mine.

TRUE!!!

I always laugh at those guys. "Do you believe in God?"

The approach is such that your the heathen and somehow they will show you the light... even though your already there.

I look at them and smile. It one thing to invite me to go to a church, its another to accuse me of not having faith before you even talk to me.

Remember, there is a difference between Faith and Religion.

I am sure Blaise Pascal knew that.

@Jafo
Don't use drugs.

Just say no.

that shoveing dopwn throats thing (or approach) is something of a shame. I don't know if anyone has ever been on a train...

but how would you like to be preached to by a person for almost a whole ride yelling to the whole car about being saved?

I don't know about anyone else but I think that is totally the wrong way to speak to anyone about something you believe in. Just yelling out to a captive crowd.

I hope I didn't offend anyone by that. I just feel its one thing to be in the street yelling, and another to be on the bus or train... or cab.

YES it happened.

all i can do is reveal to people what i believe to be the truth when they seem to be searching - and stop right there. trying to "make" someone else believe as i do as a Christian is not my job as i read the bible.

why me clarify the stuff???
the thread clearly says "T-Man's Religous Debate for Doreen" I interpeted that as I get to just sit and read everyone else's debate I don't have to debate or clarify? do I? hehe

but about that train incident of yours as long as ppl try to put themselves in the other persons side, sometimes that helps to tolerate them cuz obviously they are trying to do good? but then again what's their motives? to save their own soul? or yours? I think love should be unselfish or it's no good...

and I think God is a spirit of love that goes beyond human understanding of it, which is why he had a human interpeter for us (his son) though obviously we still don't get it?
