Religion is from the times in which people were not able to explain the world arround them. People have used religion as guidance. Political leaders have used religion to their advantage and to justify their wars. The latter made me hate religion.
"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction." - Blaise Pascal
It is all fine by me if people feel the need to have a religion, but I don't want to be confronted with people that are trying to spread "the word". I find it offensive and irritating that they treat people that do not have a religion as "if only they knew".
I don't need a guidance from any religion. I just want to keep on living and make the best of my life. A good friendship is worth more than any religion in the world.
Blaise Pascal had humor, though:
"If you believe in God and turn out to be incorrect, you have lost nothing - but if you don't believe in God and turn out to be incorrect, you will go to hell. Therefore it is foolish to be an atheist."
But don't get me wrong. T-man started this thread with other intentions and I don't want to be off topic. But because this thread also showed other people without a religion I felt it was safe to write the above.
