well I deleted cookies and my temp inet files still no pic's display. I tried to R-click and save as one of the image links and get message cant connect to server. Images fail to display either via IE or if I use the WinCustom Browser.

Arrg, okay I even tried the killcookies deal on this site. Whats weird is if I log out then click on say CursorXP group I see all the preview images but "BAMM" as soon as I log in no previews just boxes with red x's. As far as I can tell the last time I deleted every wc cookie both manually and by using the link.

alright a tad more info:

If Im not logged in (pics show) it gets the previews from "skins.stardock.com" and displays em fine and pings okay if do ping skins.stardock.com from cmd

If I log in (pic's dont show) then it tried to get previews from "skins.wincustomize.com" which fails. I tried to ping skins.wincustomize.com and all attempts fail/timeout. As I would assume the WC browser ALSO gets its preview images from wincustomize that at least explains why no images in it as well.

Hopeing for some advice on this

Were you logged out of the site, via skinbrowser and browser and off site in your browser when you killed the cookies? Just a thought. There are at least two WC cookies last time I checked. It still sounds like a cookie problem.

Am using newest version of WB browser and hnestly not sure its a cookie thing at all because if I do a Tracert skins.wincustomize.com it succeeds to the 15th hop then cant seem to find the next server. Maybe something tween my ISP and Atlanta suffered from the storm? Anyway below is a copy of tracert for skins.wincustomize.com I get sans the first 10 hops so you can see what I meant by it hangs:

Tracing route to 63.111.11.232 over a maximum of 30 hops

11 375 ms 631 ms 451 ms 0.so-7-0-0.XL3.ATL5.ALTER.NET [152.63.85.190]
12 588 ms 326 ms 431 ms 193.at-5-0-0.WR1.ATL5.ALTER.NET [152.63.86.213

13 314 ms 314 ms 179 ms pos6-0.ur1.atl7.web.wcom.net [157.130.216.50]
14 409 ms 327 ms 519 ms vlan3.msfc1.dr2.atl7.web.uu.net [198.5.128.20]

In SDC 'connections' are you connected to GA or CA? Sometimes if you change it, close /reopen and refresh it it will connect properly

I said it could still be a cookie thing because one time I couldn't connect at all to WC, just got a 404, but on another PC I could connect. And it wasn't my ISP and the site wasn't down. When I logged out, closed out of the site and deleted all WC cookies I could then once again access the site. I once could cruise and use the site just fine but could not change the site theme skin. Cookies again. So that's why cookies is all I can think of. Especially if you can do fine not logged in and not when logged in.

If you ran a tracert when you were logged in, run another when you're logged out and see if it's any different. That may not make sense, but see if it makes any difference? Yah, it's weird.

okay will try to restate things so maybe a tad clearer.

a) If I go to wincustomize site and don't log in then the redirect for preview images is skins.stardock.com which works and I see pictures.

b) If I log in, then the redirect is for skins.wincustomize.com which do not work and fail to show the pic's.

c) SDC logs in just fine as does WC Browser however WCB also gets its images from "Skin.wincustomize.com"

Pinging skin.stardock I get successfull test (this is from a cmd window and no browser of any kind loaded)but if Ping Skins.wincustomize I get failed ping. If I run Tracert on both Stardocks goes fine but wincustomize hangs after the 15th hop which leaves "ms vlan3.msfc1.dr2.atl7.web.uu.net [198.5.128.20]" but never arrives to the next hop.

More n more thinking its something in the network backbone thats fried tween me and Atlanta due to all the storms or something at this point.

oh and...
d) have both manually and via wincustomize deleted every cookie at least 5 times and no luck.

Jess, seems indeed like there is a link broken between your ISP and the WC server.

A temporarey fix may be to edit your lmhost file. Add a line wheer skins.wincustomize.com equals the IP address of skins.stardock.com.  You can do that unti the broken link gets fixed.

Just an idea.

humm willing to do if can advise how it should be written hehe Found my Imhost.sam file but it has nothing in it to cut paste edit so flying blind.

I know I want it to take skins.wincustomize.com and equate it to IP addy 66.250.32.95. Anyway will keep net searching to see if can find easy guide for how it should read and check back here too.

eh I just added "66.250.32.95 skins.wincustomize.com" to the host file and seems to have temp fixed ie and wb browser. will just change it back once sucessful pings happen I guess.

Thx for the tip

I thought it was the other way around, ie:

skins.wincustomize.com   66.250.32.95

But if it works the other way, oh well.

in the host file its the addy first then the name is how I have so much of the ad sites redirected by using entries in host like this "127.0.0.1 ads.peel.com" so it pops up my page not found blank instead of their ads.

Anyway I'll just ping a few times a day and when i start getting through again Ill just delete the line but good idea on a work around Thx again
