missile yes adv is pretty useless.  lower cost woohoo

mass yes durantium based ones are expensive as hell

support can be good if you design it

carrier hell no

balanced hell  no

equal defense and don't use the basic ones which load up on range and use 1 defense

The bigger the hull, the more flexibility you have, period.

I have outfitted them as carriers, beam-intensive platforms, stacked tons of engines, sensors or survey modules, and support modules.  Outfitted with massive sensor capacity and even just a missile rack or two, they scan serve well as a deep space reconnaissance craft that can pretty much defend itself against any unexpected pirate nests.  They can also accompany colony craft into the dark and unknown frontier, offering an immediate security presence while the new colony scrambles to build power and shipbuilding facilities.

The biggest drawback of course, is that these large craft take a long time to build, so your large-hull shipbuilders need to located on your more mature worlds with ample power, population, and shipbuilding-enhancing tile improvements.

why load up on peaceful modules for a large ship

2 or 3 modules each is all you need for peaceful

Your post isn't really clear.

then you don't pay much attention to the ship designs

Large Hull works well with carriers. Do you research miniaturization on the specialization and focus techs? I agree with Gauntlet about the clarity of your post, it looks like you are in a conversation with someone who knows what you are talking about.
