??? Grabbing a screen-shot before reboot....

My PC has started to spontaneously reboot. It is doing it when I use the double-click to keep on top/alternate click to roll setting. Right before it does that there is a blue screen with lots of writing that looks like it might tell me what is up... but it goes away too fast for anyone to read it. Any way to grab a screen-shot and save it during that second it shows? Or to make that message stick around some.

GM, have you tried pressing the Pause/Break button while it is showing?
That should freeze the screen...

Thanks, JM! I will try that next time it happens. I don't really know much basic computing stuff.

Why do they put all that information on a screen that only lasts a second?

To unfreeze the screen press the Pause/Break button again.....

GM...go to Control Panel/ System/ Advanced/ click 'settings, under Startup and Recovery. Un-check 'Automatically Restart'. All others should be checked. Whenever your machine faults it will stop on the Blue Screen and log it to file

BTW... to your re-booting problem my guess is that it's a fault with your graphics driver..probably nv4_disp.dll. Sometimes you get a conflict if you're using DesktopX or Object Bar, but most of the time just updating your graphics drivers does the trick.

Thanks everyone! I have had WB4 since the alpha without problems. There are some things that I suspect...

I tried PSP 8 beta and it really messed up Stardock products for some reason. I finally just took it off. Recently, I reinstalled PSP 7.4 from disc, but it doesn't work right. There is another graphic program that has a slight problem (longstanding... It won't uninstall). I know I probably need a reformat now, I just am not ready to do it yet.

The other day I installed the updated (02/03) Pixia program.

The other day I did a windows critical update.

Could be any one of these. I will look into the driver updates. This is a gateway computer and I did use their scan and try to install something just now and I had to go back to my last good configuration. So I think I will spend some time backing up stuff, then try again.

Gm- if the critical update was 811493... uninstall it until MS comes up with a patch for it...the update affects buffer over run and seriously hinders system performance
