How do they do it?

I have been searching the wallpapers for a couple of weeks now and it seems a most of them contain these smooth flowing tubes that twist and turn. Are there any tutorials on how people do this? or at least a name of a program that they do it it?

Is there a trial of Bryce 5, or did they delete it or something. I tried to get it from everywhere, and they all directed me to the same page with a lost download. Pls give me a link to a working download.
