I think I'm looking for the same thing as the OP if I understand them right. 

I have multiple chrome desktop shortcuts pointing to my most frequently used webapps.  For example one shortcut for gmail, one for facebook, etc. and when I open them, while they automatically get grouped as separate applications in my taskbar, they get grouped as part of the same group in groupy because they both are instances of chrome.exe.

I think it would be a good idea if groupy by default mimicked the way windows groups applications, and then to provide extra flexibility, also allow for the grouping of windows by title, with the ability to put in a regular expression to match the title.
