Or how do you use the "message" feature of DEsktopX. I tried and it didn't work. I even read the tutorial but still didn't work. Anyone know how to use this feature?

I've been able to send messages to another object to activate the various mouse over states of the other object and it works. I cannot get the messages to 'show' or 'hide' the other object.

Message feature works fine. I think you are confused about how it works though. The Show and Hide are not commands. Meaning by sending the "Hide" message it does not tell that object to hide. It only tells that object to use the appearance attributes of the hidden state.

To litterally hide something you have to make it a pop-up and use an object to control the pop-up status.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

How did you get 1.96b version? I only got 1.96 version. I check to update but only see 1.96.

and by the way, it would be nice if they make the "Show" and "Hide" state can be used in Message.

On SDC, with 'show pre-releases' checked it's there.

Let me correct something.. You CAN hide an object with the Hide state. However, you would have to create a totally transparent image of the same size. Make that image the active one under the Hide state and that would work. HOWEVER, just because you can't see it doesn't mean it is not there. Anything lying under it would not be accessible because when you clicked in that area, you would be clicking on your hidden object.

To truly hide something you need to make it a pop-up.

Nevermind I just found out a way how to mimic the "show" and "hide" message lol. First you set the object that receive the message "mouse away" transparent to 0%, then "mouse over" transparent to 100% or None. Then set its Activation to None. Then create another object that sends the "mouse over" and "mouse hide" states to the receiver object. There you go , now whenever you move your mouse over the sender object, the receiver object will appear

sorry for the typo above, it should be like this

"Then create another object that sends the "mouse over" and "mouse away" states to the receiver object"

By the way Werewolf, Im using Component Manager, how come i dont see the DesktopX 1.96b version????

Component manager is being replaced with Stardock Central (SDC). It is entirely possible that new betas for all the apps are only being updated to SDC. You should give SDC a shot, it's a great app.
