High CPU explorer.exe (Start10_64.dll) - start 10 is slow to display icons in modern mode when this is happening.

For the last few days, i've been experiencing issues with the performance of a) start 10, and b) CPU for a period each morning.

when this is taking place, clock on the start 10 button, then menu shows, but the icons can take several seconds (or even greater) to appear.

It seems, at least for a while that Start_10 seems to be doing something very CPU intensive.  after several hours it sorts itself out, and CPU usage reverts to normal.

What can i check to determine the cause/resolution of this?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure what is going on. But I suggest for you to try the purge and reinstall to see if it helps. https://forums.stardock.com/486022/start10-support-faq#reinstalling

Make sure to download the latest version from your account. Reinstall and reboot.
