ASHES FOUNDERS: WINTER 2019 UPDATE

Greetings!

It's been awhile.  But we haven't forgotten about our favorite RTS.  I want to give you guys a preview of what's coming up.

## New game in Singularity Universe ##

So we are about to announce a game called Siege of Centauri.  It's a game set in the Singularity universe and is based on Ashes of the Singularity.  It was originally intended to be a DLC but we had to make so many changes to the gameplay code to make it work that we ended up deciding to make it a stand-alone game.

Ashes lifetime founders will get it for free and our target price is still DLC range at $10.  It's not a very big game but we want to use the engine to try to make the ultimate tower defense game.

## Ashes 3.0 ##

So mentioned elsewhere, we've made a lot of improvements to the engine.  We started backporting things from Star Control last year which became Ashes 2.7.  Now we're in process of doing much bigger changes.

## Ashes II ##

We expect to begin development of Ashes II this Summer.  We want to polish Ashes I more, fix bugs, add some QOL changes before we move onto it.

We had originally intended in having a whole bunch of expansions to Ashes of the Singularity itself rather than doing it as a sequel.  However, we have learned, the hard way, that if you make big gameplay changes in an expansion a sizeable percentage of the player base will be very upset(see some of the outrage when we've made changes to Galactic Civilizations III).

So what will be in Ashes II?

Broadly, it'll be much, much more centered on building a civilization than micro-managing units.  That is, base building and making use of resources is a lot more of the focus rather than dealing with lots of units.  There will still be lots of units, of course, but you, the player, will control them via your Commanders (think of Commanders as customizeable super units that you create and then you order the Commanders to go out and do stuff and the units attached to the Commander do their thing).  

We'll have a pretty lengthy beta for this and Lifetime Founders will get Ashes II for free.

I do love the idea of going with building a civilization and having commanders with really big armies.. 

1. don't limit on how many commanders you can have in the game.

2. try not to limit the number of units each commander can have.

3. don't forget about the research tree ala Sins.

4. Try this time to give us this time Naval units and Structures.

5. It will be nice to see random neutral civilizations on planets with their own cities.

6 please give us this time Wreckages on units and buildings.

7. make explosions better and more realistic.

8. I will love to see connected worlds where you can send reinforcements from 1 planet to another or from zone to zone.

9. try to have at least 4 different races.

10. I do believe air units movement can get way better and more realistic, look at TA as an example. ( I just don't like when they stop mid air and go back, it will be nice to see them after they hit their target go and circle and hit it again)

 

I know its very early for quiestion and thats why i did not ask them.

but I gave you some personal opinion on what i will like to see in Ashes II

will we see those changes? I do like the map editor of Siege of Centuari (It Does Work!)

by updating and improving the Engine will we see it happening anytime before 2020?

As an Old Ashes Founder, i ask you Frogboy  to please give us some updates on this matter. you can trust the Ashes Founders ;)

Don't see that anywhere, I do know that you have a really good Fan Base that are waiting for some good positive news

Hey All,

All the news initially posted in this thread sounds/sounded well sick! (I didn't really know, even being a founder, that this forum existed till today!!)

I've played Siege of Centauri a fair bit and I love it, but would it be possible to get some kind of update on the state of Ashes: Escalation (I already noticed the post about Ashes 2.0 on the main site, but would like more information!!), as well as some kind of update on the state of Ashes II.

Since this is the first I've heard of that too, I'll be honest.. The Hype is real !!
