Can't start the game, keep getting an error message

I keep getting the error message:
Your Path system environment variable does not contain "Windows\system32".
When I try to start up the game from my Steam library. I already tried to fix this myself and went into my system properties under the advanced tab and manually added "Windows\system32" to the beginning of the system variable PATH. I am still getting the same error message. I am using windows 8. I submitted a ticket but I got an email telling me to come here. Please help! I really want to play this game. I've also tried starting it in steam's offline mode. I tried running as administrator, and in different compatibility modes. I also tried re-installing.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

The error, and fix noted here:

https://forums.galciv3.com/486732/galactic-civilizations-iii-support-faq

-'Environment Variable Missing Path'

If that fails, has the game ever run?  If it has in the past, what can you think of that has changed?

If you try to run the game under a new Windows Admin (<--important) account, does it run then?

It works! I just had to add a new line in user variables for the path variable and then add the \system32 part to the Path system variable too. So I guess the Windows 10 fix also applies to Windows 8.

Thank you
