ESET has caused issues with other SD apps in the past (WindowBlinds for example). If it can be disabled (uninstalled would be better) then a reboot (again, on each), that would be telling.

Same problem with AV disabled

Mouse cursor on primary continues to disappear and clipboard sharing does not work between primary and secondary

Only thing that brings the mouse cursor back to normal is stopping and restarting MP or a reboot.

The one other here, is seeing the same thing - not an error, it's actually crashing. That is why I want you try a clean boot to see if it is indeed a 3rd party app conflict (what I suspect it is).

After much trial and error, I have noticed that everytime I attempt to access the URL field in a browser (usually Chrome) on the secondary from the primary computer, the mouse cursor consistently disappears on the primary and the only way to get the cursor back is to restart the MP service and/or reboot.

This is the closest I've come to finding any certain conflict.

Any advice?

Further testing shows that anytime the clipboard/cut and paste system is invoked within the browser address bar (chrome, firefox, edge) on the secondary, the error/crash occurs.

I have used MP Seamless for a long time, since its inception, with little to no problems. Recently, though, in the last year, MP has been more unpredictable and less reliable. I am experiencing the exact problems discussed here, with the cursor being lost on the primary with no ability to reconnect to the secondary, caused by an apparent crash of MP. I try to restart the MP service and get the functionality back only to lose it as soon as I navigate to the secondary. The only way to get everything working back is to reboot the primary. Mind you, as I am writing this, I am doing so from a brand new PC, with a fresh windows installation.

The only workaround I have in place is to fire up Sharemouse on both PCs and to re-select my pointer settings to get back to work without having to reboot. Sharemouse has absolutely no issues, except for a slight delay once in a while on the secondary. MP functions flawlessly when it is not crashing.

What causes the MP to crash?

when I open a sidebar in Word or PowerPoint
when there seems to be no selection of a window in the primary and I navigate to the secondary
when clipboard fusion is accessed

In my observation, these can be easily reproduced. There may be other things that cause MP to crash, but I have not been able to ascertain them yet.

To reiterate, Sharemouse does not crash at all.

I think there needs to be some update addressing these issues. I know MP has not been updated in a while.

Been using Multiplicity for years and in recent months/year have experienced increasing problems with mouse control and audio. Got tired of installing/uninstalling and many hours trying to debug the problems/find the conflict. Similar to your experience, I was so frustrated with MP, that I started to use Sharemouse when MP was causing problems/not working. Sharemouse has NEVER caused me any problem. Works 100% of the time. Sometimes I even use Sharemouse along with MP so I can send/receive audio.

Interesting that you noted conflicts related to the clipboard system as well.

Agree with you that it's probably time for MP to look at why so many users have problems/conflicts and see if they can improve the situation.

I also wanted to add a positive note. It is easy to complain when something is not working right. MP has been such a unique and important piece of software in my life. I want to thank the developers and Stardock, for providing such a crucial program for many. This is why we voice our concerns when the software seems to be losing its unique ground when some tweaks could be made to ensure its functionality and place in the computing community.

I found a workaround to when MP crashes that is giving me good results without having to restart the computer. When MP crashes, go to the "Services" tab in the task manager and restart the MP service. Without going to another screen (that would crash MP again), unload MP, and then load it again. This seems to re-stabilize MP and when I navigate to other screens after doing this MP remains stable.

Yes that works, but you will find that you have to do it with such frequency it becomes frustrating.

Same thing with audio problems. You can disable the audio and then re-enable it when problems occur.

Would be nice if Multiplicity addressed all the complaints rather than ignoring them.

What are you doing each morning? Is this resuming from suspend, or after bootup? I assume you have found you do not have any sort of multiplicity control each morning?

In answer to your questions, I'm simply sitting down at the computer and moving the mouse. It's neither resuming from suspend nor after bootup; I leave the computer on, logged in, and running, often performing downloads or other chores at night. The problem occurs as soon as I move the mouse cursor to my secondary machine, which is on the right of my primary if that makes sense.

Hmm... That's odd. I downloaded Object Desktop and let it install Multiplicity, and when I bring up the Multiplicity about box, that's not what it shows at all. Here's the screenshot for proof that I'm using V3 (unless I'm really missing something):

Does that tell you anything? It sure looks to me like I am using the latest version?!

You can put the batch file, on the desktop for example, and run it to restart the MP service.

As I have stated prior, MP crashing is incredibly rare and I have not yet seen a case where it was not a result of a 3rd party app / setting conflict - something the clean boot would help us determine. That is not to say that MS may have changed something that the masses using MP are not seeing - that you are doing something / have some setting that most using the product do not. Its just finding out what they may be is an obvious challenge.

I noticed something else that is making MP crash. When I open a Google Sheets document to edit, then I go to the second screen, MP crashes. Only happens, it seems, on Google Sheets.
