Sorry to hear about your problem, John.

Last time you posted, I do recall that the CEO of Stardock attended to you personally but I guess he is too busy to help you now.

I would recommend that you send an email to Cari and maybe send her your savegame and see if she can help you. Her email is [email protected] .

Let me know if you are unsure about how to send your savegame.

Seeing it was working properly before, it's a problem with the saved game itself. That is your saved game is corrupted somehow.

Now this was quite common in versions 1.00 and 1.01.

If you are running these versions, then unless they have some way of correcting that error, your game is probably lost forever. Consider upgrading to version 1.05, you can find it on the downloads page here or on Stardock Central.

If you are not running 1.01 or 1.00 it may be a true bug, that Stardock will have to correct.

In both cases, the game is probably lost, but the way to fix the problem is completely different.

To check your version number, start up the game and go to the main menu. ALT-TAB to the desktop. On the task bar at the bottom you should see a tab that reads: Galactic Civilization and VERSION NUMBER. An alternate way of checking your version number is in the middle of a game. Press ESC to enter the game menu screen: SAVE GAME, LOAD GAME, etc. At the very top of the menu, you should see a number. That is your version number.

Hope that helped!

You'll probably have to start a new game.

Old save games loading under a new version are a shaky proposition. I had to downgrade once to finish a game that would not load with a new version. Then there some of those great 1.03 era bugs, like the homeless ships and the corrupted political party bug. Both of those would also make a save unloadable. Those were fixed in 1.04 and later.

Thank you all very very much for anwsering my question DIRECTLY! You are all very nice! ;) I'll check to see which version I'm running. But or else as you say I guess I won't be able to restore my game! Oh well, even though I was doing very good on it!
