Stardock Central
from
WinCustomize Forums
I have been using Component Manager for about six months...but read (on this message board) that CM is being phased out (or already has been), and that Stardock Central should be downloaded to replace it. I wasn't sure if I needed to uninstall CM before installing SC, so I emailed Stardock asking them about it...here's the reply I got:
Quote:
That isn't necessary to use Stardock Central. If it's not broke,
don't fix it, is what I always say. I'd just leave it alone on your
system.
Thank you,
George

What's up with that?? Why would someone from Stardock say that? I already told them I downloaded SC, and all I wanted to know was whether or not to uninstall CM first.

SDC will load your proggies to a differant folder (program files\stardock) then CM did (program files\object desktop). You'll have to copy your skin files over to the new folder or they won't show up when you run each app. If you want to make life really easy.......un-install everything and re-install with SDC (leave CM out). They will install to correct folders (stardock & wincustomize). In either case save your skins to a temp folder
If you do a clean install you will not have a program files\objectdesktop folder anymore. If you do, let me know 'cause there must be something really wrong with mine
