Create New Improvements With The Ship Editor?

In Galactic Civilizations 3, it is possible to create new factions, and complete sets of ships to customize the game thanks to the ship editor.
However I find that it misses the possibility of creating sets of improvements to accompany these new factions.
And I find it a little sad that many factions have the same improvements.
Thinking of the ship editor, I wondered if it would be possible to create these improvements as it is possible to do for ships, by assembling specific parts in the ship editor, the editor would generate automatically the .png files necessary for the use of these new improvements when the user saves his creations.

What do you think? A DLC for creating improvement sets?

Graphic files, not xml files.

I know what you ment. Requires XML and you can use any PNG image (128x128) for the improvement.

How easy is it to create them? Have you done some of them?

All I have done is recolour existing improvements. Fits my needs fine. I think the ship designer creates a PNG when you save a ship so you could go this route, if you can get it to take a decent snapshot when you save. It all depends what you want them to look like tbh.

Recoloring existing improvements may suit the needs as you say, but for a full set of improvements for a new faction it quickly becomes limited.
Are we condemned to always use the same graphics for improvements?
It would be sad, look at the thousands of models of ships available in the workshop, and if there could also be models of improvements available in the workshop?

I don't know how the improvements .png files are created by Stardock. If they are created with a 3D program or if they use a 2D program.
From what I see by observing the graphics used, they must be created in 3D. It’s faster to do it that way and it gives more possibilities.

The 3D object must be positioned at a predefined angle so that all of the improvements have a visual match.
The program needs three .png files, one for the improvement on the planet with a shadow, a smaller without shadow for the construction list and a third of a solid color without shadow when the improvement is in phase of construction.
All this can be done automatically by the program when the user saves his creations.
So maybe.
