Start10 Shutdown/Restart results in sign out

Shutdown and restart no longer work on Windows Server 2019

I installed the Start10 application on new Windows Server 2019 Std. servers.  Everything works fine except the right click on the start icon / Shut down does not provide the selection of shutdown / sign out / restart.  It only provides sign out and not the options that you get on Windows 10 Pro clients.  How can I get the same functions in Windows Server 2019?

By the way this functionality used to be available on my Windows Server 2012 R2 servers to which I had Start 8 installed.

Are you accessing them via RDP?

Sean,

Thanks for that registry tweak.  I am trying to get the shutdown and restart options working from Remote Desktop Connections.  After applying the registry change and rebooting and then uninstalling and reinstalling.  I still get the issue where the  Windows Icon , Sign out (expanded) / Restart, still just logs the user off.

Any other thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Rick

Rick,

I don't have WinServer 2019 to test with but on a Windows 10 RDP session (also needing the reg key add), it does work.

Forgive the rudimentary ask, but, how do you know that 'Restart' within Start10 is not restarting the remote PC?

Sean,

There are currently three options for me.  One is an administrative command prompt and running "shutdown / r /f" which forces a reboot in 60 seconds.  The second is from the Start icon and selecting "Windows 10 Menu" which then exposes the original Windows Server power menu options of Disconnect, Shut down or Restart.  The third option for me is using the VMware vCenter Restart Guest option since these are all running on VMware hosts.

I would prefer the option in Start10 to allow the Restart options from the Start10 menu though.

Thanks!

Rick

I just cant show that it does not work or readily create an environment where I can test.

Or:

shutdown /r /t time_in_seconds

To set your own time...

That could be made into a batch file and pinned to Start10 - a poor substitute but...
