filter existing ships in list?

is there any way to filter your existing ships in the list by type?  it would be nice to easily find all ships of the same type and to cycle through them, like scout, transport, survey, constructor, etc.  its a pain going through each fleet for example, to find troop transports when staging for a war etc.

I wish!

The best I've been able to do is to always name my fleets that contain certain types of ships, then sort alphabetically.

Something along the lines of all fleets containing transports have the first letter of their name be A, Colony ships, the letter B,  fleets that are otherwise important might start with the letter Z, for example. Fleets that are just hanging out usually don't bother changing the names from whatever the game generates.

It's a hassle, but it makes it a bit easier.

I do the same with the planet list. I prefix specialized planets with, for example, R, to indicate a research planet, and so on...

GC2 did a much better job with lists.

Although at first I thought this would solve the problem, it doesnt work unless your transports are not part of a fleet, as the fleet name appears in the ship list instead.  I was hoping but it doesnt help.  thank you for the suggestion though.  I'll keep trying to think of ways to do this.

That's why I said I rename the Fleets, and not the ships.  So as soon as a transport gets added to a fleet, I rename the fleet with a prefix.

Again, it's still frustrating, but it's the best I can come up with till something better comes along.
