Getting a mac?

I was thinking about getting myself a new PC, and use the Pentium 3 that I use now as a server for my site. Are there any of you that have a MAC and think that it is better than windows, or not?
If you look at creating graphics and stuff like that, is a mac better?

In an effort to save this thread from becoming a flame war, I will simply say this:

If you a pressed for cash, a run-of-the-mill PC is the way to go, but with that, you sacrifice performance.

If you have a little more cash (about $1000-$1500 can get you a great mac) then a Mac is the way to go. Macs are notorious for graphics design and video editing. I have both a Mac and a PC, and I must say that my Mac (PowerMac G4 867MHZ) can do a lot more than my PC (AMD 2200+ 1.8GHZ) in the way of graphics rendering. It usually boils down to the amount of RAM you have, but my Mac always comes out on top, even with 128MB less RAM than my PC.

So I say drop the extra cash and go for the Mac.

Bought myself a new Mac a few weeks ago for graphics.
Not that I think it's "better" than a PC, just the "Graphics Standard" is Mac oriented (out here anyway!) and any magazine work I'm doing is a pain to cross-platform, all the pre-press people and agencies use Macs!
Expensive?
Yes but I can write mine off against my business.

Performance?
Very good but as a new model running dual processors and at over A$5000.00 it should be.

Bonus .... the current crop of kiddy generated virus bombing seems to be PC directed.
I'm pretty happy with it Styl .... but I'm sticking with my PC for 'other' work.

I have a Mac 9.2 for a major netowrk (called a server in Mac talk) and a Mac OS X Jag and a powerBook laptop.
All I can say is:
I didn't know that they could make computers worse!!!

MAC is an option for sure, you should get down to CompUSA or a local outlet so you can see one in action in person...

I'll have one in time, my son has the G4 titanium laptop and loves it. He opted for that over the Alienware Extream though did not got with the 17.1 but the next down which is 16. Says it is fast, graphics are fantastic and he hasn't had any problems with it in the least. Drags it around with him and connects WiFi where ever his boat pulls in.

I think I will get down to a store to see one in action, always wanted to put a logo under my website with : made on a MAC

I was considdering buying myself a Pentium 4, 2.4 GHZ or some kind of mac (have no experience with them)

Any of you have experience with a 'sun' server?

I have used a few macs, and they drive me nuts.(But, I have little need to get one, so that's just a personal issue ) Brad wrote some blogs about the Mac that we have in the office (he also took it home to see if he could get more work done with it there). He bought it to do video editing and graphics stuff (and just to have a Mac in the office).
