Cannot revert back to Windows 10 menu

Using all the default settings, when the quick launch button "Windows 10 Menu" in the 7 style menu is clicked, nothing happens.  The 10 menu with the tiles is unavailable.

The installation works fine otherwise.

A blank icon appeared in the menu style display of Control Panel, but the solution is at https://forums.stardock.com/478915/page/1/#3646862

This install is on a friend's machine, which he is trying out for the first time, since moving to 10 from 7.  I don't think he is impressed.

My 8.1 machine has Start8 which has been working perfectly since day one.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.  Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/486022/start10-support-faq#reinstalling Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Cannot confirm since the person decided to get used to the 10 menu and navigation.  But here are some tips.

I learned from a Norton tech that MS continually makes drastic internal changes to the OS for reasons we will never know.  These may break some programs and drivers, like the recent "old" nVidia video drivers, which rendered the machine unusable.  Additionally, the "Feature Updates" may be the most problematic for program writers, since not everyone installs them.  Same may go for the "Builds".

The machine in question was using Build 19042.746 and Feature Update 20H2.

Thank you for your rapid response.
