Universal Applications menu is empty

I recently updated to version 1.96 and I've noticed that my Universal Applications menu is empty on my 'Modern Style' start menu. I can't say that it's definitely this update that caused it as I'm sure I've had a few updates since I last used the Universal Application menu, but the Universal Applications menu was definitely working fairly recently and I've not changed anything with Start10 except install updates when prompted. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that's not resolved the issue. I've also tried the 'Windows 7 Style' start menu and the Universal Applications menu is empty there too. I've opened up Configure Start10 > Desktop > Advanced and 'Hide Universal applications from the Windows 7 style menu' option is unticked. I've tried ticking then unticking this option but that hasn't solved the issue either. Am I missing something obvious here or is there an issue somewhere that I can resolve?

Hi AzDude, first - amazingly fast response! Do you mean just the 'Start10Empty' section referenced in your link or everything on the page? Most of it isn't relevant to the issue I'm experiencing. I've checked the Windows Privacy settings and 'Let Windows track app launches to improve Start and search results' is indeed enabled:

Here's a snip of the Universal Applications menu:

And the options in Configure Start10 > Desktop > Advanced, showing 'Hide Universal applications from the Windows 7 style menu' option is unticked:

I did a purge and reinstalled, the Universal Application menu is now back, working as normal :)

That's good their back , I was going to have you do a Purge as next step ..

Ok, so I thought the purge had worked and, temporarily, it did. On the next reboot, though, the same issue re-occurred. I tried another reboot and they came back - but, I'm getting another issue along with it. It seems that on every reboot (maybe not every reboot, but more often than not) I lose the activation - I have to re-activate it by entering my email address and password or licence key. I thought this affected just my main desktop PC, but I'm having the same issues (both the universal apps being empty and the lost activation) on both laptops and my other PC too. It seems weird that nobody else has reported this but it surely can't be just me if I'm having the same issue on all machines I have Start 10 installed on?

Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time. A "Run" dialog box will pop up, please paste the path below into the "Open" field and press OK.

%ProgramData%\Stardock\

In the folder that pops up, you should see a folder named Start10. Please delete this folder and all of its contents.

After you have deleted that folder, please attempt to activate once again and it should succeed without any errors.

Please let me know if this does not resolve the issue.

Hi Sean,

It's not an error I'm getting when trying to activate, it's that after 1-3 reboots it becomes deactivated and I have to activate it again. It's been happening on all of my machines (I'm currently using five - two PCs and three laptops, all running Windows 10 Home or Pro, all on version 20H2, build 19042.867. I'm not sure if it's been since the most recent Start10 update or a recent Windows 10 update that's caused it but it's certainly annoying. I've done the above and removed the Start10 folder in %ProgramData%\Stardock\ on my main PC and will report back.

Thanks,

Craig.
