could i have a mailchecker if i have yahoo mail

what are the steps to add a mail checker in my ojbect dock display bar if i have yahoo mail. i know it would be easier if i had outlook express or some other mail account service. is there a tutorial on this? thanx in advance

The problem is that Yahoo mail is Internet Mail. Most mail programs such as Outlook, require a POP3 server, and will not work with Internet mail. Sysmetrix is an example of such a mail checking program. You need a POP3 mail account for it. Or you can also use hotmail which works with Outlook/Express although it is not a genuine POP3 mail account so, it may not work with other mail checking programs. But, I think that Yahoo offers a POP3 paid upgrade too.

The easiest thing to do is to create a internet shortcut to Yahoo in Object dock, and if you keep the cookie, you may not have to continually type in your account name and password.

Yahoo Mail used to give access to email through POP servers, but now they only give that options if you subscribe to the paid service. It's the main reason why I switched from Yahoo to Hotmail.

Hum, don't think so. But I can get it with Outlook, which was my concern. I want my email in my inbox, not have to go on a web site to read it.

You can't get Hotmail in Outlook or Yahoo mail?
Hotmail should be a no-brainer. But for Yahoo you have to be a paid Yahoo Mail subscriber, which is why I switched. I used to get my Yahoo mail in my inbox until they changed.

actually you can setup Internet mail in Outlook, and also in many host(server) side spam scanning programs you run locally...

I don't think it's possible to receive Yahoo HTTP mail through Outlook.

But here is the good news!!!!!  Lookie what I found: http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/

YahooPops is a little program that sits in your system tray and emulates a web browser on yahoo server's side and delivers your Yahoo mail right into your inbox as a POP account. Works like a charm. And you can use it with any mail program that requires POP account!!

well so far yahoopops is working great. all of my emails are sent and received on my outlook express with no problem its better than payin 19.95 for the yahoo mail upgrade ..hehe
