I don't think moderating less accomplished it's goal....

We seem to be getting at least as many if not more disputes about walls on the message board now as we did then.

GM you've found your Nimbus2004 Stir Stick in the mail huh?

I am noticing something also, though not quiet sure what to make of it, might be SOP after all...

is that what is referred to as "the magic stick?"
??? I'm not sure. I just was looking forward any way possible that the arguing would stop, the accusing. Maybe I shouldn't have posted, and it is ok if this got deleted. But I am kind of sad and disappointed that this has continued.

SOP?

sorry i was using a cheesy rap joke (50 cent) "i got the magic stick."
Nothing to be sorry about horizOn... the reference is unknown to me. These arguments about walls are real familiar, t hough.

it was a joke, Nimbus 2001 was the Broom Harry Potter had in the movie. Stir Stick was poking fun at the premise of the post, not in an attempt to be negative, but to joke...

I'll refrane from here out.

SOP is Standard Operational Procedure, meaning there is a cycle where people who do not really understand the process of submiting Walls question it and can not get past the curve of accepting it as that is just the way it is.

Nothing mean or deceptive in my previous post in the least on my part, as I said, won't happen again...

IPlural, I didn't have any problem with anyone's posts. My own, as soon as I hit submit, I regretted. But it was the way I was feeling. Your humor is fine, and it makes up for the other stuff, which was what I was talking about. If it were not for humor like yours and horizOns, and a score of other people I don't think I would like it here very much. Sometimes, I think all the arguing about walls and such seem to threaten that.

Can you believe I have never seen a Harry Potter movie, nor read the books? I should. That's why I didn't understand the reference.

...and I guess it isn't even the arguing that gets to me, it is the constant accusations and blaming. Of course people here start feeling defensive, after all, this is our community that we love. And in truth, individually all these people who come into our community and gripe at us have no way of knowing it is maybe the tenth time in less than a week, or it has been going on far too long... but sheesh... it takes it's toll. And I thought looser moderation was to cut down on that.

If there's any moderation at all people will moan about not having their stuff accepted. Better to bite the bullet and have stronger moderation. At least then someone looking for a wall doesn't have to wade through pages of crap before finding something decent.
you don't have to wade through as many pages if you set it to display 20 or so at a time
Reply #12 Top
You won't have to wade through much at all if you set your ratings filter to 7 or higher

I would rather have the paper hangers crying my wall wasn't accepted than mine is better than whats accepted. With less moderation, they might be right. But there are to many so-so wall makers that want there 15 min. of fame instead of wanting the site to moderate more.

the heck with a Nimbus...i want a Firebolt!

I think that the moderation is working its way back to where it was.  It's just such a hard situation.  People flame either way.  Of course, there was that poll that had the results of:

Question:  Total votes: 962
Answer 1:  377
Answer 2:  118
Answer 3:  74
Answer 4:  393

So, the moderate the "same" was first with a close second of "moderate them more".

We know KarmaGirl, sad isn't it.

I would personally moderate them more.  I would probably even reject my own wallpapers   But, I am not the only "say" in how things are done. (which, is probably good, because I would receive a lot of hate mail.....)

Some of the guidelines should be updated I think...

- Bryce art, unless the result is so astonishing that one could never tell it was done in Bryce.
- (Dolphins, palm trees, metal spheres) or other over-used elements

If one wants to comply to these guidelines why is it that so many times I see walls like these are accepted. You can't be harsh on someone who tries to upload something and then is confronted with this > Be strict but also to your own rules.
Lecrayon, we're not being strict, that is the point.

Maybe just a rewording.
962 votes - the other 700000 obviously couldn't care less, and therefore you can assume they don't want the wallpaper section at all. So add the 700000 to the 74. There, that looks better...
In that case Karma, shouldn't you adjust the section. Just my toughts.
