Bug: Black User Account Image Background

Transparent user account image shows up with black background

Hello,

I've set up a transparent profile image for my user account in windows 11 (updated registry entries), but when I see it in the start11 menu, it shows up with a black background. It looks correct when logging in and in the user settings page. See screenshots for examples.

I'm not sure if start11 looks in a different location or creates a sperate copy, but would appreciate any assistance!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure what you mean by "(updated registry entries)" above. Please elaborate.

Thanks

By default, windows 10/11 gives transparent .png user account images a black background, similar to that shown in the customized start11 start menu screenshot above.

By changing the registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AccountPicture\Users to a transparent .png path, you can get a transparent user account image (as shown in the settings screenshot in the original post).
