Start 11 - Win10Style Start Menu - Custom Menu Background Custom Image | Black Screen

I have an image I'd like to use for Start 11's Window 10 Style Startup Menu background.  I tried setting it as a custom image, but the background changed to solid black.  I confirmed that the file type was .png and that .pngs should work as a custom background.  I also found a the aspect ration/canvas size of one of the default backgrounds (Rusty Metal Grid_x2.png) and found that it was 512x512 so I resized my desired image to meet the same resolution and tried again only for the image to change to solid black.

What are the image requirements for a custom image to be used as a Win10 Style Background Custom Image?

What I've tried:
- Resize to 512x512 (Same size as reference image Rusty Metal Grud_x2.png)
- Confirmed desired picture is same file type of reference image (.png)

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Did you Try a Jpeg version and see if that works

Solved:

Edit: I did a bit more testing on my own after getting the issue to work.  I don't believe there is an issue with .png or the aspect ratio being the issue.  It seems, with my issue, the problem rested in where the picture is stored.  My main image folder is located on my D drive while I installed Start11 on my C drive.  Any .jpg or .png should work if your image is on the same drive as the install.  If you look into my edits you will see my confusion when it started working for me, but I was testing from my downloads folder (C drive) and it broke when I moved the file to my storage location (D drive).

Solution:  Store your background image on the same disc drive that you installed Start 11 onto.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, Actually, on my system I can load any png at any size. All the sample background image is in png format. I am not sure why your system cannot load it. Just as a test. Please load any of the sample png files that listed here. C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Start11\MenuTextures. And see if that load properly on your system.

Thank you,

All good basj.  I think I just figured out the issue.

I went to transfer my desired background to my storage location and everything stopped working.  It seems the background image has to be stored on the same drive that Start11 was installed to.  In my case I have a mass image/video/writing storage stored on a large 1 TB HD (D drive) and I installed Start11 to my SSD (C drive) as that's the one windows is installed on.  The reason the image worked when I was testing was because I tested the image directly from my downloads folder (C drive)
