Help with resizing icons - grid?

Anyone who knows how I can edit the grid for the desktop? I use 48x48 size icons but if I "align to grid" they all crowd up! I figure if I just space out the grid it'll be fine. Any ideas? Something I don't know about? Help appreciated!

Open 'display properties->appearance" and in the "Item:" list there's entries for "Icon Spacing (Vertical)" & "Icon Spacing (Horizontal)". I guess these will ultimately set your icon grid.
