Installing Start11 over Start8

how to get rid of start8 without

I installed start11 over the existent start8 and still have both installed.

Should I run the Start10RegExp.bat file now to export the existent configurations to start11 and then to uninstall start8?

As I notice in past posts, that may be complicated.

We can't even think in having troubles now; we are in the middle of an urgent job....

Please help us with an installation workflow.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I installed start11 over the existent start8 and still have both installed.
End of quote

I gather you mean Start10 and not Start8, yes?  Start8 would only have ever worked on Windows 8 and Start11 is not compatible with Windows 8.

Let me know as there are a few things we need to know after that.

Hi Sean,

Start8 worked for years on our 3 PCs after we upgraded them from WIN8 to WIN10!

We just installed Start11 on one PC (WIN10) without  uninstalling Start8.

Then we run the Start10RegExp.bat file to export the Start8 configurations to Start11.

As all the configurations were well transferred, including all the start menu items we had previously, we then uninstalled Start 8.

Is it  the right process  or, on the other PCs, should we uninstall Start8 first, run the Start10RegExp.bat and finally uninstall Start8?

Thanks

Hi Sean,

This is how we proceeded with Start11 installation on the 3 PCs:

  1. run the Start10RegExp.bat file
  2. installed Start11
  3. uninstalled Start8

all good,

thanks
