Winamp 3 Released

Why, when winamp5 is available, and much better

Winamp 3 has been canned. Project is dead.
I think you may well be confusing it with the new WA5 beta that came out.

He may think he's correct, but the link points too an old advert in the Winamp site, which has been there for over a year.

Are there any skinz available for winamp 5?

I just tries it today . It seems to work with all wa2 skins and some but not all wa3 skins. Has lots of new features and is pretty light on your system. The default skin/s that come with it are cool.

When I first saw the topic I wondered where this person has been for the last year or so, Winamp3 has been out for awhile and its awful. I've been using Winamp5 since the alpha leak, and now use the beta, and it works like a charm. The default "Modern" skin that the beta comes with is simply awesome compared to the really bland original skin of Winamp. I haven't tried many WA3 skins, since I'm a picky person when it comes to skins, but the couple I have tried worked just fine. Nullsoft definitely is on the right track now.

I will stick to WMP 9 thanks. Winamp makes me made. To many buttons!

I understand a lot of people who have tried Winamp 5 are very happy and impressed by it. I have been holding off waiting to see how it progresses mainly as i was worried that it may not be compliant with some of the version 2 skins which are my favs. I particularly like the Abracadabra, Beacon and Colony Winamp skins. I take it from some of the comments above that Winamp 5 would be OK with these skins. I am running version 2.91 of Winamp at the moment - should i upgrade to version 5 albeit that it is still in beta????

So far the Winamp 5 Beta i've been using is ver stable, there is only one hiccup i've found, other than that it's fine - It does use the Winamp 2 skins that I have.

The Hiccup:

Using Winamp 5 with Player and Playlist open using modern skin is fine, but close the program using the Player close button (Top Right Corner) and run it again It will display the classic titlebar of the playlist until it is fully opened showing the Player & Playlist with modern skin, I don't know who to email about this hiccup

I found a major hiccup. I tried to point the skins list to the WinAmp 3 folder so I wouldn't have to redownload already downloaded skins (pure laziness on my part), and the whole program crashed. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to re-enable it, and reconfigure the skins list back to the mostly empty WinAmp 5 list.

Just chopped in my version 2.91 for the version 5 beta and wooooooooow!!! Excellent!!! Most excellent!! Love the new modern skin. I also downloaded the MMD3 skin which has 70 different colour options. Plus the most important thing - all my old 2.91 version skins work perfectly

hi folks....great 2 com u ppl are commenting....as 4 as the question of Lion is concerned...U CAN USE WA2 skins with Ver5 but ALONG WITH some compatibility Issues....I am trying 2 make a migrator...but obviusaly i will not be much better cause of the difference in coding....hopefully u will get WA 5 skinz soon....try using WA 3 skins
