Icons Missing

Sometimes the task bar items are missing their icon.  See, for example, this screen shot:

The fourth position from the left is blank but there is an app there.  If I click on it, the app will start and the icon will now be visible. The sixth position represents a minimized, running app (see the tiny mark at the bottom) whose icon is missing.  If I restore that app, the icon will be refreshed.

Is this a known bug?  Is there a fix?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your issue.

  1. Windows 11 full version numbers please. Use Winver.exe to get those numbers.
  2. Start11 versions install.
  3. Need to know your taskbar size settings.
  4. Need to know your monitor scaling setting (100%,125%,150% etc)
  5. Is the issue happen on few specific application or randomly? If specific, can you list down which application is having the missing taskbar icons issue.

3. Single Line.  I'm not sure that answers your question.  If not, repose your question.

4. 100%  1920x1080

5.  I have only four taskbar items: Thunderbird (Mozilla), Firefox, AB Commander (file manager) and NotePad++  When the icons are missing, they are all missing.  That is to say, when they first disappear, they ALL disappear.  I can only restore the icons one at a time by starting the app by clicking on the empty space.  That ALWAYS causes the icon to reappear.

I have not been able to identify any pattern regarding when the icons go missing.  Only the taskbar items are affected; all others behave normally.

What steps needed to recreate your issue? Need those to try to recreate it on my side.

When those icons goes missing, do the restart explorer.exe, does those icons reappear?

My settings menu is different than yours.  I have no setting for taskbar size.  You can see my taskbar in the screen shot in my original post.

I answered your question about recreation in the second paragraph of item 5 in my previous post.

You final question does not make sense.  Get someone who has a better grasp of English to rewrite it.

What can I do to try to recreate your issue on my system to verify your issue? That is why I need these information. What you have to do to make those icons disappear?

As I have stated, I do not know what triggers this problem.  It just happens once in a while.  I doubt there is anything you can do to fix Start11 other than looking at sections of code that might contain the bug.

I never use Explorer so I don't know if running it would fix the icons.  Certainly doing a reboot fixes the problem.
