Start11 - 1.24 : Issue with start menu icon

The custom icon is under the standart icon and link to selected style is not working

Hi, 

From 3 or 4 updates (i don't remember when the issue appears but it was not present before), the custom icon choosen in Start 11 is under the default icon of Windows 11, and the start menu is the default too. 

The issue appears on every restart of windows and i need to restart explorer to fix it.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I don't see that on my system. May I know.

  1. Windows full version numbers. Please use Winver.exe to get those numbers.
  2. Taskbar setting, enhance turn on or off? taskbar set to single or more rows? Taskbar size set to?
  3. Monitor scaling (100%,125%,150% etc)?

  • additionnal settings : all disabled
  • 1 row
  • size : medium 
  •  

3. Monitor : 100%

Please try, uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot. Test it and report back.

Hi, 

I made some checks :

  1. uninstall (without remove settings) and reinstall (v1.0) : the bug still there
  2. uninstall (removeing settings) and reinstall (v1.0) : the bug is not present
  3. add custom icon : no bug
  4. update to v1.24 : the bug appear

I checked next many things and it is sufficient to logout to produce the bug (restart not needed)... i remove settings deleting keys in regedit but in v1.24 clean (without setting) the bug is there : the start menu don't appear on click (but yes with windows key) and if i restart explorer, no bug...

I hope you will can reproduce the bug to fix it !

Did you ever installed other Start panel / taskbar program other than Start11? Program such as StartAllBack or any other that is similar to it. Those need to uninstall/undo if mod has been done on registry etc.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Hi, 

Very sorry to be late... lot of work these weeks !

I tried the purge and reinstall directly in v1.24 but the issue still be there :(  

At each start of windows (or session login) the start menu not works (i need to restart explorer to get start11).

Hi !

Good news, i solved my issue with your last link. I checked the first part of the tuto you gived, creating a new user, and verifying if the issue appear. The issue appear but i noted that another program launched at startup : Explorer Patcher. I used it before Start11 enhancement was added (to keep programs titles visible in windows open in taskbar).

I disabled it when the Start11 did the same feature and i thought that it was removed (it is a dgxi.dll) but not and i forgot it ! This time a deleted it !

Sorry, because you asked me on June 5 if it was the case...😕
