Icons are making me feel pretty stupid!!!

Hey everyone! I hope someone can help me with this it is making me feel pretty stupid. The text under my icons is black and I can't see it with the wall I am using. Can someone remind me how to change that. I went into display properties and got to where you can change the icon spacing and everything but it won't let me change the text color. I am using universal metal by pixtudio for my windowblind, don't know if it may not let you change it. I know there is a way, I have done it before just can't remember what I did. Help would be great. I would like to be able to read my icon text. Thanks.

I think that the icon caption text is the same colour as the titlebar caption text. I've heard that sometimes the colour changes from black to white, based on the lightness (darkness) of the wallpaper. But that doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the suggestion Morphium. I tried that, I think. I changed every color I could in there, but it seem to change everything but what I wanted it to. I hate to have to change the wall but if I can't get the text color changed I may have to. The icons look pretty goofy with no words under them you can see. It is probably driving more nuts just cause I can't remember how I did it in the past.

Ok, I give up.

I cannot get the right icon color anywhere.

Icon text colour depends on the background. Dark background = white text, light background = black text. You can also change the font smoothing to clear type which gives white text with a black shadow. That's in Desktop Properties > appearence > effects.

If you use WindowsFX you can have any text colour you want!

I know the feeling... If the wall didn't match the skin so well I would give up. I haven't played with skinstudio much or the new icon developer, could there be something in there ya think I could tinker with to change it? Hmmm, guess that's as as an excuse as any to try and mess with it.

If you are using SkinStudio you can edit the skin easily. In SS click tools > open current skin, then navigate to Miscellaneous > Colours > Background-Desktop and change the colour to something darker. Then click on the apply button (on toolbar) then accept changes. The skin will now reload with the correct background colour for your text!

Fuzzy Logic....WindowsFX worked great. I can't believe it didn't cross my mind. Thanks so much for the suggestions. May even get bold and try the skinstudio stuff too. I am happy now I can see the text. Thanks to everyone else for the help too.
