Desktopx 2 - disappearing startup icons

Recently installed Desktopx 2 public download and now everytime I reboot or go back to windows (xp + sp1), I lose all my startup icons in the system tray and have to do a restore to get them back. If I uninstall desktopx, then the icons return. this sort of puts me off purchasing the enhanced version so please help.

right click, configure the desktop x. uncheck the hide desktop icons and taskbar.

OK I have done this. When I have desktopx running or trying to use a theme, everything is ok. It is when I exit desktopx and return to windows that my icons in the windows system tray are lost. When I right click start and choose customize where it says hide interactive icons under the taskbar tab, I see a section with latest settings and one with previous settings. The previous is where all my startup icons are and the new is just showing 3 or 4. If I uninstall desktopx, everything returns to normal.
