Start11 menu not showing

from Stardock Forums

Happily using Start11 for some time. Today when I hit the start button No start11 menu appears just a list of pinned apps and a link to all apps. No shortcuts or anything. It is inside a start11 box. This appears whether start11 menu is selected or not.

Am using 1.25 with no recent changes as far as I know. Win 11 is fully up to date  and is the standard version

Have tried all the usual stuff - reboots, kicking it etc but not a reinstall. Any ideas?

Try the uninstall reboot and reinstall reboot test and report back please.

No change I'm afraid. Other functions are missing. 2 examples

Taskbar icon size set to small - won't change from medium
Windows key set to bring up start11menu - start icon changes colour but no menu displayed

Sorry to hear you are having issues. May know more on your system.

  1. Need to know your Windows 11 full version number. Please use Winver.exe to get those number.
  2. Do you have another application that deal with Start menu and/or taskbar installed or running in the background?
  3. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Bitdefender has quarantined the batch file saying it is potentially malicious!! What do you want me to do?

If you downloaded from Stardock server, you can safely consider it as false positive. And run the batch file.

Thanks for your response.

  1. No other software runs around menus/start as far as I am aware
  2. Microsoft Windows  Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.856) 
  3. I ran the purge and reinstalled. No change. Start11 menu does not show. If windows menu is selected it does show
  4. Some/most/all? other functions seem to have no impact eg taskbar icon size.

I have found a couple of things working.

  • It changed the start menu icon
  • It allowed removal of taskbar text
  • Most seem to have no effect

Hi zzdpmjpr,

For testing purposes, can you disable bitdefender and see if it is interfering with the operation of Start11?

No I can't see any difference. Some things work but start11 menu never shows icon just changes colour.

May I know if you are if you are using not standard scaling, ie. 110%,130% etc?

Yes that's it. I started using non standard scaling a week ago.

It seems ok but I will look in more detail later. I seem to have lost the pages of apps on the menus. Is that not recoverable?
