"WindowBlinds did not install correctly. Would you like to attempt to repair at this time"

WindowBlinds 4.01 installed on Windows 10 Pro ver 10.0.19042 Build 19042 x64 based pc. AMD Ryzen 9 3900X

I am having a serious issue with WindowBlinds functionality on my pc. I have allowed the auto attempt to repair several times with no results. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Still no change. Message in complete is "WindowBlinds did not install correctly. Would you like to attempt to repair at this time". This happens after downloading skins from WinCustomize, save to local pc then select "Install from local disk". I ended up reinstalling Windows 10 Pro, installed only the most basic programs and tried again. Same result. Can anyone help please. Requesting help from the Stardock Online Support results in a bot reply for "Retrieve your license" or "Forgot your password". I have been using StarDock since 2004 and never posted for an assist, but I am desperate and need one of the many talented members and veterans. Thank you kindly for any suggested.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I am not really sure if Windowblinds V4 will even work on Windows 10. I think it is best to update to the latest WB V10.89.

On the Stardock Online Support, I believe, Stardock has move to full forum support for technical issue before 2018.

Thanks

Thank you for responding Basj,

I am using Object Desktop Manager 4.01. Maybe I misrepresented the version of WB's. I am using Version

  • WindowBlinds 10 - Download 10.89.0. This is the one program that got me hooked on Stardock in 2004. I even went as far as reinstalling Win10 Pro (Which I did NOT really want to do) and after antivirus, Stardock was my first install and it still did the same thing. I am so frustrated and need to find a solution of some kind. I tried it on my 2nd Win10 Pro machine and it worked fine. Just to test. I would be forever grateful for any thoughts or fixes you, or anyone could offer. Thank you again for the response, and sorry for the misinformation. The Stardock Manager was the version 4.01. I thought I saw a beta, but I usually stay away from those for this type reason. But if itis true there is s new Beta OD Managerr and you think it may work, I gues I would give it a shot.

Thank you Basj,

Ben

Okay, Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Thank you for the info Basj,

I did try the Purge executable. It did not help. I purged again as well as all Object Desktop programs I had used. I and then cleaned my registry of all related entries. So I am at a dead end. The same thing happened with Window Blinds 11.

I will attempt the guide post listed above.

Thank you for keeping track of my issue.

Basj,

I did try to follow the instructions provided, however, I am now attempting Windows Blinds on Windows 11 and having the same issue. The HIPS steps through the instructions have a few different options. Do you have a link to the same procedure for Win 11?

Gratefully more than I can express. Stay safe!!
