Can someone help me with a graphic?

I'm trying to make a butterfly graphic. I want it to only show half (like viewing it sideways) and with the wings is going to be the letter "B" in butterfly. Now my question is I wanted to make it shiney/glass or emerald like. I've found some tutorials on this but it's not helping me much, it always comes out looking a little funny. I think maybe I can't get the "lighting" on it right. Would it be at the top right?
Any advice, tutorials or whatever you can give me would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm using Paint Shop Pro 8. I have photoshop too, but have yet to find the time to sit down and learn it.

Not real familiar with PSP8 but they work about the same.In PS they have what are called layer styles.You can manipulate these styles to make shadows,glows,highlights,and innerlights...the right combination will give you a glassy depth.Google can lead you to lots of great tutorials.
