What is the "subscription"? If I buy Start 11 or Object Desktop will it stop working after 1 year?

Are the stardock windows customisation apps all subscription, as in if you buy them you have to pay every year or they stop working? Or dose the subscription only cover updates? 

I'm looking to return the windows 10 startbar to windows 11.... but not sure what the subscription is for.. if I get Start 11, will that just work forever?

Hello,
No, it still be working, just that you won't be receiving any more updates for those programs, and you can't no longer download installers from your account.
