BUG: Start11 Start button not working Windows 11 Insider update

The latest update for Windows 11 Insider has broken the "Press start button" functionality, and only reacts to clicks.

Hi. I've been using the software for a while and had great results.

I'm on Windows 11 Insider, as I cover Startdock and other new features on my YouTube. I'm a huge fan.

However, with the latest Windows 11 update: 10.0.25211 Build 25211, I can no longer pull up the Start 11 menu with the physical start button on my keyboard (neither work), it only opens the default start menu. Clicking the button does work, however. This is annoying as I've really become accustomed to this menu, and it's the only thing keeping me sane on windows 11.

I'm happy to provide more info.

I have tried Uninstall > Reboot > Reinstall, same issue.

I have tried the Purge script mentioned elsewhere in this forum. Same issue.

Reboots and messing with settings between reboots have no effect.

EDIT: Both the beta and latest version have the same issue.

Please help me stay sane.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Stardock can not guarantee all it's products to work properly with Windows Insider buils.

As such there are no quick fixes for these issue s.

I would advise to roll back the win update or move on to regular win platform ?

This is not feasible for me. I make money from showing off cutting-edge features. This was more of a dear developer "This seems to be broken, please keep an eye out for a fix and/or other reports."

Also in hopes, someone knows of a fix.

Is there not some way I can invoke this with, say, an AutoHotKey to capture the Start button press?

So just to clarify here, this is a problem with the keyboard winkey?

Can you double check your settings in Start11 to make sure it isn't set to show the Windows menu when you press that?  It is on the control page in settings.

Yes, I've made sure of this. I have toggled this and other settings off/on with restarts too.

The settings were the same, all I did was update windows. Now it's not "listening" to my start key. It's like Windows now has a higher priority

Have same problem.

Clicking "Start" button via mouse click on taskbar - Start11 appear.
But if I press "Start" in keyboard - native Windows start menu appear.

Hope it's getting fixed soon in beta.
I am using latest Insider Win 11 too.

Also, a new bug was developed... Whenever I middle-click an icon on the taskbar: Instead of opening a new copy of a program, it opens 2.

As if it's listening to the mouse down and the mouse up...

I can also confirm the double-click on the taskbar.

It's easier to verify by applying sound to middle-button via CursorFX as the click will sound twice when clicking on the taskbar and once anywhere else.

Whoops...Yup! I have the same issue. I opened a thread before checking if someone else had the issue. Now I see there are lots of us!

The 1.28 beta update should address this insider only issue with the Windows key on your keyboard.

The middle click thing is under investigation.

Installed 1.28 Beta on top of the 1.27 Beta and "keyboard" issue gone for me after restart.
Thanks, devs! For such quick fixes in Beta.

How does one download the beta? I've searched everywhere. Even came across 'Stardock Central'

Clicking my profile image, then 'My Downloads' takes me back to the Stardock homepage. May be my browser, but it's very odd.

EDIT: Yeah must be my Chromne or extensions. Get the beta from https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. The beta fixes the start button glitch. For some reason middle-clicking programs still results in opening multiple instances instead of just one new one.

(One middle-click on VSCode)

Middle-clicking on Notepad seems to work fine with just one instance opening.

Firefox opens 2:

At least this is much less annoying than the start button. Thanks for the quick fix!

I am afraid in testing on 25217-1001 the middle click issue cannot be reproduced.

Are you sure this wasn't an OS bug itself as Start11 appears to be working correctly?
