Feature Request: Drag Taskbar Buttons to Re-arrange

Would it be possible to add a feature to Start11 where one could left or right click and hold, on a taskbar button for any open window and drag the button to re-order the taskbar buttons?

I am asking to verify if it can not be done currently, but, I have verified it can be done on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 system. Are you sure it cannot be done on your system? Below a screenshot while I am trying to move Explorer windows next to Windowblinds windows. As you can see its moving as it should. It just left click hold drag reposition and release on the mouse button.

Thank you,

You mean to rearrange taskbar button from the same application, yes?

Yes, that's it.  With taskbar buttons ungrouped, I want to be able to move the buttons for individual windows from any application between any of the other buttons from any other (even from the same) application.

In the video clip, I'm running Binary Fortress's DisplayFusion which has that functionality in its taskbar.  I also used to use "7+ Taskbar Tweaker" by Ramen Software, to add this feature to my taskbar.

So what you are basically wanting is taskbar buttons to purely show up in the order they are opened rather than grouped at all?

What I basically want is a feature that allows me to click and hold on any window's taskbar button and drag it to move / re-arrange the taskbar buttons when they are not  grouped.

My video clip above shows this.

Did Start11 ever get the functionality to move / reorder taskbar buttons individually and independently from the app that owns them, as the OP was requesting?

If not, can that be made into a feature request?  (And if there's a separate FR submission process, please advise as to how to submit.)

To recap the request:

CURRENT STATE:  Taskbar buttons can already be ungrouped -- that provides individual buttons on the taskbar for each window that an app has open.  And taskbar buttons can already be moved -- clicking-and-dragging on the button will rearrange the order buttons appear on the taskbar to a certain extent.  But when moving / reordering ungrouped taskbar buttons, ALL THE BUTTONS FROM A GIVEN APP MOVE TOGETHER.  And items from one app cannot be placed in the middle of items from another app.

In other words... this is how things work today, and NOT what is desired:

DESIRED STATE: When taskbar buttons are ungroupped, allow the individual taskbar buttons for each window to move individually and independently from the other taskbar buttons from the app that owns the windows to which the taskbar buttons correspond.

In other words, this is the desired state:

Is this something that can do? If not, can we request a feature enhancement to allow it?  (And how do we submit a request for feature enhancement if necessary?)

Thank you!

Thanks, Basj.  Can you give us some idea of where this stands in the backlog? You sent it in as a FR in Jan of 2023 and it's Jun of 2026.  Was the request accepted?  Rejected?  Does it have an ETA for delivery? Is it just in a giant backlog queue and, if so, where does it stand vs everything else?  Appreciate any insight you can provide.

Your feature request has been shared on our internal thread, where the Support and Development teams will review it. We truly appreciate the time you’ve taken to provide feedback. Please note that not all requests make it into the product, as implementation depends on feasibility and how the product evolves moving forward.
