Start11 doesn't always work with left-click

Bug-Report

Hi,

a lot of times when I click the start button, the normal windows11 start menu appears. Windows button works all the time so far.

Sometimes it works, but I don't know what causes or what fixes it. One time I could fix it with restarting explorer, but right now after just booting into windows, it won't work with clicking it, restarting explorer didn't help either.

Start11 version 1.36

windows version 22H2 (Build 22621.1194)

I just installed a clean win11 2 days ago, but had the problem even before that.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately, download the latest version 1.38 Beta from your product account page. Install that version, reboot again immediately after. Retest and report back.

Thanks

Well, No it didn't.

Just booted my PC and wanted to click my start button, and the regular win11 menu showed up.

Windows button on keyboard still works though.

Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Right now for example it works fine. Haven't changed anything from my autostart, so it is definitely not on my end

Thanks!

Also sorry for not providing more useful information. It happened 1 time in about 6 restarts now with the beta version. So it definitely helped, but sometimes it might bug out for whatever reason.

Just a thought but if the Ctrl key is being held down when you click the Start11 menu, it will render the Windows native one.

I disabled that option a while ago, because I thought that could be the problem.

I couldn't recreate the problem for the last 2 days though, it's still the one time it happened.

I've been experiencing the same hang/reversion to the Windows Start function.  This typically happens after a period of inactivity, when my laptop enters and remains in screen saver mode for more than an hour.  It's not just the malfunction of the Start Menu, it causes the entire system to hang.  A system restart is the only thing that fixes it.  I love having my classic start menu, but the loss of productivity has me seriously considering abandoning Stardock.  What a shame.  Fix it quickly or lose a loyal user.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Need its full version number. Use Winver.exe to get it.
  2. Start11 version?
  3. Your laptop stay in screen saver mode and never goes to sleep mode after inactivity after few hours?
  4. Your laptop connect to external screen?
  5. Any other details we need to know to try recreate the issue on our end.

Thanks

Try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall. Re-download latest Start11 version. Install that version, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

BTW still need your full Windows 11 version numbers : Something like this : "22H2 (Build 22621.1194)"

Thank you,

Just as an update: Had it happen now 2 times after booting in the last few days, but every time it helped to restart the explorer in task manager.

Haven't changed anything in the system, no new apps in autostart or something like that, just maybe some windows updates.

Not as big a problem as it was when I opened the thread, so I don't post because I need help asap, just want to inform you and maybe help the devs in finding and fixing the problem.
