Start11 - is it possible to turn off application thumbnail previews (Peek?)

Hi, wasn't able to find this in the forums but now that I post I'm sure I will. In the taskbar, when I hover over an app, it shows me preview thumbnails for all the windows that app has open. Hopefully the picture helps. This might be the Windows feature "peek," I'm not sure, but I turned it off and still get the preview thumbnails. Can I turn off all thumbnails? I don't to see anything when I hover. Thanks in advance. -Scott

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. May I know, you on Windows 10 or 11? And need its full windows version. Use Winver.exe.

Thanks

Hi, thank you for the quick response. It's Windows 11 Pro:

Version 22H2 OS Build 22621.1105

Not sure you can do that with or without Start11. I uninstall Start11 and disable peek as mentioned here. Yet, the peek still show up. However, I do the delay taskbar thumbnail preview reg edit. And that one work. With or without Start11.

I'll try the delay setting in the registry and let you know. Thanks!

Ok I got it working. What I failed to mention the first time is that I had tried using ExtendedUIHoverTime in the registry and it didn't appear to work. Except, my attempt was with Start11 installed and running. This time I uninstalled Start11, restarted, set ExtendedUIHoverTime and tested. No thumbnails, yay. Then I crossed my fingers and installed Start11, and still no thumbnails, double yay. So the trick for me appears to make the change while Start11 is not installed. I saw what you had tried, noticed you had uninstalled, and realized I hadn't tried that. So thanks for your help!

Oh. I forgot to say I also disabled "Enable Peek" in advanced system settings/performance.

Hello Stardock Support,

I have the same problem. I want to get rid off the application thumnails. In this screenshot you can see how useless the thumbnails are (those are instances of the same application -> SAP Logon):

They all look the same ... it's just visual noise.

The desired behaviour is the one you get if there are too many instances running for this application: When you hover over one of the task bar buttons of this application, a vertical list is shown, with the textual description of what each instance is showing (for the folks who know SAP: it's SAP transaction name). This information is short and crisp, and lets the user quickly find the instance of the aplication (= SAP session) he is looking for.

BTW, I have disable the application thumbnails for the Windows Alt+Tab navigation as well. Also here I get the small application icons plus the text for each application / application instance. ItÄs this registry key:  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer: New DWORD value AltTabSettings = 1

How can I disable application thumbnails for the taskbar in Start 11?

I use WIndows 11 Pro 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3593)

I don't want to uninstall and re-install Start 11. If it's not possible (yet) to control this (annoying) taskbar applicatiuon thumbnails, how can I bring this as a feature request to the Start 11 product management / development group?

Thanks & regards, Peter
