Functionality of Harpoon Salvo

I was building a Military Starbase and was looking at the description of the Harpoon Salvo improvement.  It refers to an "ability to attack enemies up to 3 tiles away", but after adding this improvement to my starbase, I cannot figure-out how to use that ability.  Is this another example of the text not matching reality or is there some way to actually use this ability that I am too dumb to figure-out?

Do not know about starbases however on ships the ability to shoot missiles into other hexes is an icon on the ship/fleet picture in the lower left of the main screen, know starbases have this pop-up just never looked for the missile launch option as that I did not know they had. Comes from my own not paying attention to them after I build them.

I am very familiar with how to fire missiles from my ships and I make extensive use of that capability!  However, I do not see the same icon when I select a military starbase that I have upgraded with the Harpoon Salvo.

I thought you might be not noticing the icon that allows you to use the ability, so I used the console to allow me to quickly build a starbase and add the module.  I then saw the next two modules, so I added them also.

Notice that all 3 claim to add a Harpoon Salvo, so that is probably wrong.

 

I then checked the starbase for an indication that at least one type of ranged missile attack was available, like is shown for this ship.

 

Nothing like that was shown.

 

I think you found another bug.

Thank you for verifying the bug.  You may also want to check the military starbase upgrades for the other 2 weapon types as well.  Hopefully, fixing the bug for missiles will also fix the other 2 weapon types, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

The beam and kinetic weapons don't claim to have ranged attack.  I checked anyway and found they don't have any indication of ranged attack when they are added to a starbase.  I'm convinced this is correct.

Thank you all for looking at this, I apparently forgot to hit post, but I've noted this and am communicating this bug to the team. As always appreciate the feedback and detailed information!
