Just a thought

Just a thought
I am also new to this site and have seen some not so nice remarks. I do thank everyone for the wonderful work they do that allows me to have a nice desktop but for someone new that comes to the site and leaves a comment some times they are jumped on and told that they are someone that caused trouble.
Now this is just a thought but the ones that jump seem to be friends with the people that check the site. Why can you not just email them privite and ask them to check out the person? Why does it have to be done where everyone can read and then leave their remakrs and jump on the ban wagon. If it turns out that it is someone that caused problems then and only then leave a short message telling others nothing mean but just explain that it is the person that has caused problems before in the past.
I know some people like to cause trouble but maybe if instead of giving them trouble you just leave a nice remark and move on they will see that it is not having on effect on how the site goes or the people involved they will move on to something else.
I dont know what has happen and if I am stepping on toes I am sorry but as it said it is just a thought that things could be done in privite and not out on the boards for all the the negetive remarks to be seen.

Don't be sorry.

I think on all forums there come times of turmoil and change. Strong communities of good people succeed at overcoming that, and I am sure that we will.

Welcome aboard, you brave person you!

As needs have arisen, we've implemented various 'features' and 'methods' to better enable the 'handling' of these sorts of issues....such as the ability to lock threads that are problematic, and to actually hide them [rather than delete them] so that the motivation/reason for their removal is transparent to all the admins involved rather than remaining the sole responsibility/opinion of the one who decides to remove it.

This means that a 'trouble maker's' actions are historically available and easier to keep an eye on by all those charged with the duty.

With a site of over 730,000 members each with the capacity to interact with the site, and not necessarily in a positive way you can understand that many occasions can arise that are less than savory.

To date, several dozen people have been permanently excluded, and others have had access limited or reduced due to questionable conduct [of all sorts], and it remains an on-going necessity to maintain a reasonable degree of vigilance.....as we do....

Good positive actions and with the admins/mods working toward making this a more 'civil' community, it falls on the rest of us to do our part and act civil as well.
