Yet another post about Bootskin.

But this time from someone that researched before attempting to ask a friendly question..

Kinda interested in bootskinning so I read up on it last night and was successful in creating them, but for the life of me, I cannot understand this one problem and cannot find information on how to fix it.

The problem being something simple, I'm sure, but I just cannot find the error. Anyways, the problem is that the skin works fine without a progress bar, but with a progress bar, the image becomes distorted and the progress bar doesn't even work properly.

Everything is named properly and after reviewing other skins to check their programming parameters, I cannot understand why I'm getting this error..

So, the time has come for me to ask a question that I know I'll get some smart-azz remarks about, but I have no choice as I know noone in the community. My only option is to take a chance at the forums...

Check to see if the progress bar is sized at 22x9, failing that you can email it to me and i'll look at it and try to explain where the prob was.

Yes, progress bar is at 22x9x4bpp and the background is 640x480x4pp.

Progress bar works perfect and is fitted exactly into place as I wanted, but I'm still having the color-distortion problem with the main image. It's fine until the progress bar loads. Both images use same 16color pallette.

File sent.

Thanks for the help. I guess I can't trust MSPaint to keep the 16 color palette correct.

I'll upload the file later IF I get authorization from the owner of the art-piece from Deviantart.

Again, thanks for the help.

The problem is in the pallets.
Both the main picture and the progress bar need to have the same pallet of colors.
When the progress bar is loaded its pallet is loaded for the entire screen.
If the colors are different in the pallets or in different location it will change the picture.
The Pictures are basically a paint by number, one section uses color 0 (red) another uses 5 (black).
The picture uses the number to find the color in the pallet, if the progress bars pallet have the same colors in different location the picture will change.
The easiest way to fix this is to save the main pictures pallet and load it in to the progress bar picture.

Hope this make since and helps.
