Possible Sub Section for the MsgBoard?

I was thinking, maybe a sub section for help with Web layout and such?

I know that peoples are interested in having their own sites and not all
are into that end of computing, yet they are into the skinning and such.
So I was thinking, maybe a help section where they can ask for pointers
or seek out some help, or someone to spend sometime helping them get things
up and running?

just a thought, though probably broken

What we need is a BootSkin section. Then Jafo would be rich.

I dont think that the web design board would be widely used IMHO. Its a good idea, but I dont think it really applies to WinC and skinning. I mean, look at how little the Skinning and Help boards get visited. I dunno about you but I only go there about 2 times a week. Compared to like 300 visits to the General board. I dunno what the response would be.

It's hard enough getting the people wanting 'help' to actually use the 'Help Discussion' section as it is.  Another section would right-royally confuse them even more...

However....a specific one for bootskins would work......certainly enough threads to fill one....

ack

yeah... I'm not going to be answering anything in the general discussion section on the topic of help anymore. Figure that if people stick to that, maybe it will take hold?

The problem with 'help' is when people need it....they generally NEED it....and so ignoring them unless they're in the right forum won't be particularly of help to them...

true, but there is that difference, help my icon for winzip is ugly as you can get and HELP my hard drive is screeching and there is a constant ozone smell coming from my CPU

Ah...but which is more crucial?....

ah, well, errr, mmmm Rock, Paper, Scissors?

depends on which one is out at the moment

dunno if it is something you can spot yet, but my wife reads the board now and then and she picks it out, actually points it out

Ugh, lots of discussions about div tags and nested tables... Mozilla is SO much better than IE... silly web standards... "Can we have a PHP section for those who graduated from HTML"... "asp is better than PHP, can we have section"...

I dunno, it just seems like this thing is done better at numerous other places. People have asked questions here about web design without upsetting the balance much, I remember me and Paxx consorted on PHP some. Dunno what a specific section would profit us. Doesn't seem like even the skinners hit the skinning section much as it is.

ok ok, between BakerStreet and Jafo I found myself again before sanity took over

very true...

and to put it bluntly, enforcing topics to their respective sections would only serve to throw Gas on some who sit smoldering at the best of times...

It's not that I don't think people need it, I just think it would take a lot of work and moderation to do what is already done well elsewhere.

I like Devshed http://www.devshed.com/ They have decent forums, too.

Webmonkey and wwwschools are good for basic reference, as well.

Jafo, cant the admins 'drag' and thread to the correct section?
At this stage I think only T-Man can do that....[he likes his special powers]....

... T-Man told me he would give us that ability a while back, but he stays so busy with numerous projects, it hasn't happened yet. I'm patiently waiting for that day.

A 'Stupid questions and pointless thread' section would be good.
Although it would leave the main board a bit bare....

Not to mention the 'snide remark with tongue-in-cheek from admins' board....
