where is the start button in windows

iam searching for the left green start button (start-menu) on windows xp.
in which folder is it stored on my disk? Does someone know this?

Without windowblinds (www.windowblinds.net) I dont think you can find, let alone modify the start button as its not in an editable format...(hidden away within a dll or something) With windowblinds, you can change your start button and lots more...

If your thinking that the startmenu is completely a folder you are sadly mistaken however some parts of it are stored in a folder format. Its under c:\Documents and Settings\"Your user name"\Start Menu

At least that is where i remember it to be

yeah, it burns me up that the simplest things in windows can be the hardest to modify, without use of a sub program anyway

xp is at least a lot better then 98. I had to play with a 98 today to fix it (with a little help from yrag ).

The image and caption are stored in explorer.exe's resources.
