Grading, Rating and Wallpapers that suck!!

Grading, Rating and Wallpapers that suck!!

I am sorry to inform you'll that whoever selects and rates certain backgrounds that really should have been rejected because they appeared to be unfinished, pulled out of their butt holes or not very well thought out or put together, and posted them instead for all to see should be fired! I have never seen such poor and sloppy work as I have here. Mind you, I don't speak for them all, just certain ones which appear to be almost close to half of what is on this board. It seems that anything is acceptable and people who are making them are just not putting anything into making a good quality background that is appealing and catches ones eye. It seems that they just make some sort of design, stick a name on it that is pulled out of a hat and then they send it in! Amazing gall! I have never made one myself but I do know quality and I think I could do better with both eyes closed and one arm tied behind my back!! Also, I think that those who have earned a 5 or less than a rating of 5 and who also haven't had more than 1500 downloads (even after two years!!) should be taken off the board and removed permanantly. Why take up space on this site for nothing? Give space to those who honestly have good to excellent background pictures!

So.. if a palm tree were submitted and approved..
A - Would said tree have been pulled from the artists butt hole? and
B - Would it have been originaly placed there by Jafo from his aforementioned "oriface" rule?

These are the REALLY important questions that keep us all on our toes dont you think!

OK, The DJ....but posting this sort of thing publicly is not on....as it is particularly inconsiderate towards the author whose work may not have passed moderation and is no shown publicly.

If I were Peff I would not be impressed.

If Peff requires a reason I'll be glad to explain privately, as is only 'right and proper'...

BTW....removed for that reason....

Hey, I missed everything . I'm assuming you're talking abount one of my moderated walls. I have no problem with the moderation of any images. Although I stated in the comments that I thought it was better than the ones that did make it in, I suspected that the water effects would need to be reworked (on both). This is, in part, due to the images being rendered at 2048x1920 and then resized to 1600x1200. Some images lose more details than others, and these two did. I will correct this and re-submit, if that's ok.

Before I do that, however, I am curious about a couple things:

I kind of get the impression that these are the types of images that some of the above posts are referring to. Would these types of images be better uploaded elsewhere - this site or others - ? I find that they blend well with most of the themes I have used and are therefore indeed functional as wallpapers (I don't use icons). I do understand, however, that not everybody would concur.

Is it frowned upon to re-submit a re-worked wallpaper? I realize y'all have a lot to do, and wouldn't want to needlessly add to the upload queue - especially if it is frowned upon.

Just curious

And for the record, I have no problems with the moderation of anything I have submitted. Had I any issues, I would have e-mailed one of the admins for clarification.

Yeah, Stefan never personally said anything to me. And I wasn't trying to call out whoever moderated it. I'm no graphic artist, but I just thought it was a very nice wall.

Peff, we werent talking about any one wall in particular (Or at least I wasnt)...Rather, we were observing the apparent decline of quality in the walls over a period of time...

I think we've 'scared' away some of the good artists by letting the wall section be flooded with so many pathetic submissions. They look on this place as the n00b's wallpaper outlet, rather than the 'oh-so-hard-to-get-into-but-well-worth-it' library...If they submit, their work will be avaliable for but a short time...Within a couple days, stuck on page 2, or 3, or 4 and soon forgotten.

The wallpaper section has lost much of its 'glory'...I am starting to wonder if it really is the 'Finest Collection of Wallpapers on the Internet'

Sorry, Peff...a screenshot of one of your walls was uploaded here which I removed as it was not appropriate or fair to youto be exemplified that way.

That'll be the cause of your confusion...

As for resubmitting them, I think theproblem may be that when we accept one moonrise over an ocean, then we've got our quota....maybe one more if it's an interesting slant on the theme, but when anyone uploads a bunch of 'similar' works there is a fair chance only a few will be chosen, rather than allowing the 'flood'...

Moderation is designed mainly to keep a reasonable handle on the numbers....we have quite a similar traffic load to Deviantart....but their 'flood' is unchecked, hence the number of 'deviations', both good AND not so good...

I am also wondering if it really is the finest collection on the net. Although I haven't found a better collection altogether, there are other places to find very nice wallpapers.

I think stricter moderation is much needed and to hell with the complaints that their skin wasn't added.
