Start11 suggestion - per-desktop pinned pages

I have a suggestion to make virtual desktops and Start11 integrate a little tighter - since we can create pages in start menu with Start11, I think it would be very handy to be able to map or pin a specific Start11 page to a specific virtual desktop (the ones native to Windows that are pulled up with Win+Tab).  That'd make it very easy to dedicate a specific virtual desktop to an activity - i.e. the main desktop/Desktop 1 might have all your normal email, browser, etc. so you get your "standard" start menu there, but Desktop 2 might be the one you use for gaming and the start menu opens to a page with your games, graphics settings, etc., Desktop 3 might be for content production with a start menu page that has your DAW, graphics, video, etc. software and folders where you work with your content.

Start11 v2 offers the option for a given page to be opened as default on a Virtual Desktop.

You just have to be on the desktop you want and swap to the page you want and right click on the menu and pick the option to make it the default for that page.

Thanks Neil - I just discovered that option after my post, but it doesn't seem to be working as I'd expect.  Whatever page of the start menus I set last with the "Open menu on this page for the current desktop" opens by default on all the virtual desktops.  It's not remembering them on a per-desktop basis for me.

Which OS are you using?

It also doesn't work for me. It opens to the last page used. Also the menu option to Set the page per dekstop seems to only appear for the Windows Pro style menu not the others

EDIT:

Also the page breadcrumbs looks odd to me was it intended this way?

Windows 11 Pro 22H2, and Start11 v2.0 BETA 1.02.  It's been rebooted since the installation of Start11 v2, and I'm using a Windows 10 style start menu in case that makes a difference.

At least for me it's not opening to the last page used as NarusegawaNaru reported - if I set the page to use, the start menu will always open to that page (I can move to another page with no problem, but next open will be back to the one that I set); it's just not preserving a different page-to-use per virtual desktop.  I also get the breadcrumbs as NN reported, but I interpret that as just normal breadcrumbs with a "you are here" indicator that looks like a page.

Oh, and before I forget - I think it is just incredibly awesome how I came here to suggest a feature and it turns out it's already there (even if it's not working right for me; hey, this is a beta!)  Stardock always seems to have, anticipate, or be working on the features I want before I even figure out I want them.  :-)

Funn you mention that. I'm now seeing the same thing. Whatever I set last is the page that opens for any desktop.

I think the issue is a change between Win10 and Win11 (OSes not menu style).

This should hopefully be addressed for the next update.

The active breadcrumb is not supposed to paint like that, but we have seen it on occasion.  Some changes have been made to hopefully stop that.

Sweet, looking forward as usual

Awesome, thanks Neil!

Is there a way to easily track when a new release comes out?  It looks like the download link+filename don't include a release number, so I can't just watch the page for updates with Distill.

Quick update:  I saw that the production release of Start11 v2 came out, downloaded/installed/rebooted but the ability to lock a specific start menu page to a specific virtual desktop is still not working on Windows 11.

That's strange as it should be working.  I would recommend uninstalling then rebooting and then reinstalling to rule out installation issues.

Neil, that did the trick ... I backed up my settings, removed Start11v2 and settings, rebooted, re-installed, restored settings, rebooted again.  Now I can set and keep a unique start page per virtual desktop just as I'd wanted.  Thanks much!!
